[Giveaways] Checking for whether key was won

Hi, can I just check what is the rationale behind restricting the giveaways you can check to only 20 before we're forced to refresh the page? You just effectively made an already-tedious process even longer and more tedious by making us refresh, click back to giveaways section, and click back to completed before we go back to checking (another 20!) of our results. I mean, I'm hoping there's some technical benefits behind it, but just in case it's because you think it'll help users more, let me say here unequivocally that no it makes it worse.

Do not give them ideas, I am pretty sure they can make it even worse. It looks like they want people to go other sites to give away games, I personally visit indiegala giveaways far less often than before and now this can be a RIP.

I think the same should at least give the option to choose how many draws we can open, I would prefer to leave with 500 or 200 since 20 in 20 takes a lot, I only open the drawings after 1 week so I have 600 to 800 entries.

I would think if they want to save resources, they should change how you enter giveaways.

The old system you could enter all 12 of the giveaways on the main giveaway page by taking a ticket, now you much enter the specific giveaway page to participate in the giveaway, this is where the load issues will happen most likely, if 100+ people are loading every giveaway page to take a ticket.

Just realized I had 200+ giveaways to check, thought the site was bugged out because I only saw 20 completed every time.
Can't help but wonder what reasoning could possibly be behind this tedious mechanism.
The average page refresh takes 20-30 seconds and I can't imagine refreshing the page 20 times is less load on the servers than just loading it once, gg.

It's ridiculous. It's annoying. I probably have hundreds of unchecked giveaways because of this tedious process. If you want to "save resources" why not just show the unchecked giveaways that have been won?

I agree. There's absolutely no benefit to making it more difficult. The page doesn't have ads, for example (a common reason to force refreshing). If they want to cut server load down, just have a page saying "you won no recent giveaways" or "you won this giveaway, here's your key" without having to check one by one. No lists to generate, no scripts to click, just bam and you're done. The tedium to enter giveaways in the first place should be the only constraint to entering.

Lmao just realised the same and i came to this topic by the accident, who the hell thought that COMPLETELY refreshing the whole page per every 20 giveaways you ENTERED is good idea? Are you NUTS guys? Srsly?

People have been suggesting this for months... Seriously, who is in charge of this system, what's the aim? A lot of design choices here just don't make any sense... If they really want to cut server load, all they have to do is to just show the won giveaways. Play animation when there's something won. Sort won list from recent-to-oldest so the recent ones are at the top. If you want there to be some suspense, make the button reveal which game was won. What's the reason for not making it this way already, it's ridiculous...

well... since the beginning every change here made it worse (imo).
(ok, there was a short period where you could click once to check all completed giveaways, that was the only improvement (for me) on the road to worsen the user experience step by step, and it didn´t last long.)
And I don´t even mean the server issues... although these make it even more annoying.

well ... for me it seems that it is getting a bit better (your mileage may vary) .
Yes ... they do know that that ga are not perfect and they are working on it, if it will result into something you'll like ... we'll see.
Never forget: giveaway and forum are still beta!

I asume that the greatest problems with ga are not the user interface, but gold/dirt diggers.

On GA pages - yes, I agee: the more pages you open/refresh - more "clicks/vews" counts, that make sence. But your own profile page DOESN'T have any ads (or maybe I just don't see any? - correct me if I'm wrong) - so refreshing it again and again does nothing but increase server load.

As said many times before:
Giveaway Library -> completed should be split into three different sections.
like
Giveaway Library -> completed -> to check
Giveaway Library -> completed -> won
Giveaway Library -> completed -> created
?
it makes no sense to load them all on block and present them when only 1 is needed.

emailed support@indiegala.com the other day in regards to the 20 "to check" limit, and here is the response:
We are sorry but we had to make this change for technical issues and we are still working on this.
Not exactly very helpful,
I don't see anything changing any time soon.

I can tell you one of the reasons as I have encountered such a thing myself.

I have only entered giveaways. A hell of them without checking them for winning. The system automatically acknowledges won giveaways after three days so there is no downside for the creator of the giveaway either.
However when I tried to check the giveaways a problem occured. The database is kind of slow and so is the website behind. The AJAX-Query on giveaways->completed would time out when I tried to get the list of the about 2000 giveaways. It was just by chance that I got it loading successfully hence being able to check them for whether I have won or not. Since then I have checked the completed giveaways more frequently. This "workaround" ensures all giveaways will be able to load.
Refreshing all the times sucks even more though. So yeah just make it less clicks please.

I think it would be enough to separate the rated GAs in a new section so they are not all Shown all the time .....

E.g. completed --> not checked and not rated
and closed ---> all rated GAs
