Wouldn't be the first time a giveaway got ended early, I expect this was a similar situation to that other time also. However I don't like Nutaku because they don't offer reset options in their games, so the reality of the matter is I wouldn't purchase it from them, Steam might be another option (also as Arimil stated, some games I wouldn't have purchases if I hadn't tried them before either, whether that was a demo or acquired through other means, although this really isn't my type of game, so I doubt I would be purchasing it). More to the point, IndieGala also sells Steam versions of these Hentai Mosaique games, so a cease & desist order or lawsuit could actually put a huge cut in income that would be going to the developer, seeing as a number of people prefer purchasing through bundle sites over Steam directly (especially when the Steam version is censored, as was the case with many games before Steam allowed adult-only games).

I'm rather doubful of the accuracy of your claims, given that game resale is perfectly legal.

That is strange. We just recently got the builds together with promotional assets (artwork, screenshots etc.) from an official source, with proper permission (and adequate compensation), as far as we are aware of. We even had a Steam bundle that contained Steam keys for this particular game at the end of this summer.
Just a quick moment, we'll look into it and will return with more details.
P.S. Regardless if this is about a misunderstanding or something else, we do have to agree with the indubitable fact that supporting hardworking indie devs is the right thing to do, if you have the financial possibility to support them (especially in direct ways), that would be truly great, if not, just leaving some nice, encouraging comments and spreading the word about their work will most probably help them a lot and we are sure they will appreciate it.
