Thanks for the freebie! The gorgeous art built a creepy but beautiful environment. Often, I stopped just to admire the detailed scenes & the atmosphere conveyed. I loved the variety of puzzles & how although they required some thinking, they weren't extremely difficult. I especially appreciated the skip button & liked how you had to spend time with the puzzle before it filled up.

The criminal's identity became clear early on, but the atmosphere & storytelling drew me in. I liked how the diary pages & bits of the story were scattered around the area, which encouraged me to keep pushing forward. I wanted to know more about the creepy history & what led to this point. However, for all the trials & puzzles the main character endured, the ending felt abrupt. I felt that the story climbed to the climax & the final confrontation, only to suddenly fall flat. Other than that, I enjoyed the game & am grateful for the work placed in it. Thank you again for the freebie & wonderful experience.

Not compatible with Win10....
Nevermind, I got it to work. You need to check the directory of where you saved it and make sure there are no spaces in the names of any folders. I put it in a folder called "Hope Lake" initially and it didn't run. I deleted and unzipped again after renaming to "HopeLake" and the game ran. There was someone else [mterme] in the comments who mentioned this so we have them to thank!

Thank you so much for coming back to post this. If the folder naming has to be that explicit it should be using a self-extracting zip file to make a functional folder for the game to actually work. Man oh man. Thanks for coming back with a solution.
