o_O intro: thread meant to publish howto's related to IndieGala. o_O

Pointer 1: No discussion please.
If you have any questions or remarks please dm me or put it on the GAMER'S LAIR.
Why? Because otherwise the howto's could be drowned in remarks, questions and banter as some other threads are.
(Case in point: Community Wishlist Compendium Very good initiative, and luckily it seems the posts seem to get more on-topic now.)
The howtos could be difficult to find by newcomers reading this thread.
And they have a hard time anyways because this is all new to them.
They are probably the
Please let this thread consist only of the introduction, the index and the howto's.
Pointer 2: Only IndieGala related stuff please.
Why? Because otherwise the number of howto's on this thread would be gigantic.
If you want a howto on something not-IndieGala related, start a new thread.
It is not difficult. If you want help ask me or ask help on the GAMER'S LAIR.
Please do not post a question on this thread.
Pointer 3: Use format please.
Q= question, A= answer, I= info.
Why? Because it makes it better readable for newcomers.

Thanks tugamix666 and SlayerofDragons for your contributions. (y)

Q: How to give/change feedback?
...
A: Go to Login or register | Indiegala \Giveaways \completed won
In the row of the giveaway, in the column 'Feedback' there should be the word "Set". Click on it.
If you want to give positive feedback, click on the word "Positive".
If the giveaway is by a cheater and you want to give negative feedback: click on the word "Negative".
If this does not work then put some text in the box after "Leave a feedback:". And click "Positive"/"Negative" again.
...
I: A key should be for Steam. And it should be what it says on the card. That excludes most alpha/beta keys.
Best is to contact the person first, if a key is not what you expect it to be. If it is plain cheating, I would not.
There are only a couple of days before the feedback goes automatically to "Positive", if you do not set it.
If the feedback is wrong you can contact a moderator (Staff members) and ask to change it.
2025-07 -> Nota bene: These times the moderators on Indiegala seem to be moderating less and less. So don't expect miracles.

Q: How to ban someone from your giveaway?
...
A: 1. Go to https://www.indiegala.com/library \Giveaways \Blacklist
2. In the box after "Ban user from your Giveaways" you should put "https://www.indiegala.com/trades/user/" followed by the trade-id of the
person.
For example the trade-id of the megacheater Solomon is "153255385dbb11e8ae75cfee9a977589".
3. Click on the word "Ban", and the person should be in your blacklist.
...
I: The trade-id is sometimes hard to find.

Q: How to find a trade-id?
...
A1: If it is the trade-id from someone who won a giveaway from you it is simple.
1. Go to https://www.indiegala.com/library \Giveaways \Completed created
2. Find the row where the person won the giveaway. Click on the winner's name.
3. It should now go to a page which has a link ending with the trade-id
For example in the case of megacheater Solomon it would be:
...
A2: If it is the trade-id from someone who did not win a giveaway from you it is complex.
( Next part has some spaces to break https in h ttps. Otherwise IndieGala changes the text. Remove space when using the links.)
1. You should have a link to a giveaway the person created.
2. Copy the number at the end of the address to the link starting with h ttps://2-dot-indiegala-prod.appspot.com/giveaways/detail/
-> In the example you get the page: h ttps://2-dot-indiegala-prod.appspot.com/giveaways/detail/756913
3. Go to the site and click on the creators name. You get a page which address ends in the trade-id.
-> In the example it is 'Solomon'.
You go to the page: "h ttps://2-dot-indiegala-prod.appspot.com/trades/user/153255385dbb11e8ae75cfee9a977589"
(If the page goes to a 404 error page, you can still copy the link to a new tab and copy the last part, the tradeid.)
4. The last part - "153255385dbb11e8ae75cfee9a977589" in the example - is the trade-id or tradeid.
...
I: Ask on GAMER'S LAIR if you have difficulties finding a trade-id. Thanks cheerie132 for the original post here: Report Giveaways Here

Q: How to find out what game a Steam-key activates?
...
A1: Sadly it is generally not possible. Steam redeems a key if it can do it.
When you do not have the game, DLC or Add-on, and it can be redeemed, it will be redeemed.
There are 3 exceptions where Steam cannot activate the key. You can then use a trick to find out what the key is for (see A2).
1. If Steam says "This Steam account already owns the product(s) contained in this offer. To access them, visit your library in the Steam client.".
---> This means you already own the game, DLC or Add-on.
2. If Steam says: "The product code you've entered requires ownership of another product before activation.".
---> This means you are missing a base game to activate the DLC or Add-on.
3. If Steam says: "The product code you've entered has already been activated by a different Steam account.".
---> This means the Steam-key is already activated by yourself or someone else.
...
A2: There is a way to find out what a Steam key is meant for if it does not activate.
There are other ways to find out what it is using browser-extensions.
A3: A way to find it with Mozilla Firefox:
2. Put a check mark in the box to "agree to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement".
3. Press key F12 to open the Developer Tools or Devtools.
4. Copy or type the key in the box under "Product Code" and click on "Continue".
5. Select tab network from the Devtools. Pictured: network.png (Click tiny pictures to enlarge them.)
6. Select the line with the text "ajaxregisterkey". Pictured: line_with_ajaxregisterkey.png
7. Select the response-tab on the right side. Pictured: Response tab.png
8. Select the line with the text "purchase_receipt_info". Pictured: purchase_receipt_info.png
It should click open and reveal lines underneath.
9. One of the items has the text "line_items". You probably have to scroll down for this. Pictured: line_items.png
Select the line to click it open.
10. out of 10. You should see the information now. The packageid, and the name of the game. Pictured:
success.png
...
I: There is at the moment no way to find out if a key is still unused without trying the key.
Well there is no way for end-users. When it activates on an account it was not used.
Sorry, it is one of the examples of Steam's monopolistic behavior.

Q: How to make a link to your wishlist in your signature?
...
A: Copy the link to your signature and change the text of the link after moving the cursor within the text of the link. Step by step:
1. Go to your wishlist. Copy the link from the time at the top of the post containing your wishlist.
(For the post above this one it says 'Dec 28, 2021'. The link is "howto".)
(If you right-click on it, and chose 'Open Link in New Tab' you can test if it works.)
2. Go to your signature (https://forums.indiegala.com/account/signature), find the right spot and paste the link. Save your signature.
3. Now edit your signature again. Click the cursor somewhere on the text of your signature and then move it within the blue link.
4. Change it the way you want. You can just type a new text within the link and then remove the other characters.
5. Save your signature.
...
I: The same trick works for almost all links on the forums in IndieGala.
FreaKill made a central place for wishlists here: Community Wishlist Compendium

A:
Use spoiler tags. Find it above in the indiegala formatting toolbar, click the three vertical dots all the way on the right side (more options...) then find spoiler, looks like an eye crossed out. It will ask you to create a name for the spoiler, and then you can insert all the text you like.

This is a convenience to readers of the forum, to prevent your posts from taking large amounts of space every time you post.

Q: How to ignore someone?
...
A: Click on their name or avatar on the left side of the post.
<-------------- there.
You will go to the member profile. Pictured: how to ignore.png (Click tiny pictures to enlarge them.)
Then click on the "Ignore" button.
...
I: If you cannot view their profile, you'll need to switch to "Indiegala Style A" first.
Click on "Default style". It is bottom left on the page. Pictured: Default style.png
Point your mouse cursor at the name and there should be an ignore option you can select.
(Thanks Pygmy Goat for this.)

Q: How to make a giveaway?
...
A: Go to https://www.indiegala.com/library. Click on tab "Giveaways". Click on the left-side on "Create new".
You should now have something like this. Pictured: giveaway.png(Click tiny pictures to enlarge them.)
You can make a giveaway for a game, but also for an app.
...
A1: In the "Description *"-box you can put a description you like. Do not put in the complete Steam-key because everybody can read this!
I1: (Last time I made a giveaway I wrote: "Battle for the Galaxy - Ice Bastion Pack ... licw0". Last characters were the beginning of the Steam-key.)
...
A2: In the "Your game *"-box you put a game, you bought on IndieGala. Sorry, I don't know how that works.
. . . . Or, you have to put in the Steam-url of the game.
I2: You can find this by going to Steam Steam Store and searching for your game. When I search for "Battle for the Galaxy - Ice Bastion Pack" and click on the corresponding page I get this page: Battle for the Galaxy - Ice Bastion Pack on Steam
Click on "Retrieve app data". If this does not work (greyed out), click in the box where you put your link and press enter.
(Or go with the cursor to the end of the link.)
retrieve app data.png
It changes to:
Insert Steam-key.jpg
...
A3: In the "Insert Steam app serial-key"-box you paste your Steam-key.
I: Double-check the key. Later when the giveaway is created, you cannot see the key from your giveaway. So making a list of all the keys you use in giveaways is a good idea.
...
A4: Click on Select. You now should have something like this. Pictured: almost there.jpg
...
A5: Select the "Duration" of the giveaway. (I always selected 1 day.)
A6: Select the "Level" of the giveaway. You cannot select a level that is above your own level.
A7: You can select "Extra odds (guaranteed only)" for a game bought on IndieGala. I don't like this myself.
...
A8: Click on the Calculate button.
I8: It could be that you get an error. You can still go to the next step.
...
A9: You should now have something like this. Pictured: game value.jpg
Click on the Create Giveaway button to create the giveaway.

Q: How to change your Indiegala email-address?
...
A: Contact a staff member from Indiegala: Staff members
At the moment of writing Paula is the person changing email-addresses.
And tell Paula what the email-address should be.
...
I: It is not possible (yet) to change your email-address in the settings.
