EDIT: Waited almost an hour; Then I tried Naxos which by this time is a dupe. So, I tried DragonBlast Expansion which worked (so now claimed also). Can we conclude anything about the bots?

I don't think anyone can conclude anything about bots unless they themselves are using one.
I can however throw around a theory of mine, bots can easily copy/paste it if it's in plain text, also possible if you use the blurry filter (albeit more difficult) once you throw equations into the mix where the bot has to account for *=T or reversing 2 or 3 characters in the Steam Key, things become complicated for the person programming their bot. Most of the time, that person would be known as a "script kiddie" a person who uses scripts and/or a program to due their bidding for them, that person would not actually know how to program anything, or have a small amount of programming knowledge. At that point, the "script kiddie" would give up trying to program the bot to solve equations.
TLDR:
Don't paste Steam Keys in Plain Text, don't use the blurry filter to stop bots, use tricky equations like *=T or reverse some characters and leave a hint to solve it.

Picture derived from links are even better...I doubt many programmers would bother programming OCR for a forum scraping bot.
I take that back, evidently someone made that simple as hell these days too.
Good for the bots, bad for the future of programming...nobody has to learn anything anymore...its an automated source chop shop
Still, its probably a more reliable method in general...if you think they haven't started reading the phrase "reverse the last letter" with how often its been used, I hate to say your probably wrong.
They likely watch as a real user to incorporate any of the latest tricks into the bot, emoji are read as plain text such as :ninja: when you read the HTML itself, so those are pretty useless and actually even easier (the colon is an easily recognizable search character) to look for one of the maybe 200 emoji gala can show.
Actually a good method would be to use a colon and some [ ] whenever possible to throw them off so they look for code, it complicates things at least
Best trick, never use the same trick twice, switch it up as often as possible...make them create so many possible ways to read the key it actually stumps itself
