I have a question: Like when you own a game Steam will tell you that, and not let you know if it's a dupe. But if there is a region lock on a key, is it the same thing? So I can use a dupe key to see if there is a region lock or not? (My initial "research" seems to indicate this is the case.)

I haven't tried it with a used key before, but when I tried an unused key, it said "This product is not sold in your country" and then the same key worked fine when someone from the key's region tried it.

So It's possible that when you try a dupe key, it will show up as "not for sale in your country" rather than "dupe".

Good question...I hope someone has actually figured this out.

Ofcourse the source of the dupe (already used key) and the key you intend to trade/gift should probably be the same for this to be useful? But I think in practice they often would be from the same source, so it could be a useful trick?

Ok, so it seems it could be useful when trading then? To protect the key, if there is doubts about any region restrictions?
