What's the interest of giving them valid keys ? It makes me think they get them and then get cards from them to sell them or something like this.
Well, lemme quote: "There are a couple of reasons to give SteamDB game keys on Steam. The primary reason, is that ownership of a game allows our bot to download and track file lists in each depot the license grants (here's an example for CSGO), and the second reason is that it allows the bot to get common information for the game if it is not yet public (e.g. beta for kickstarter backers)."

Even if that's the case, it's ok by me. I suppose they have operational costs as well; and I don't see them begging money or running ads.

Oh...I see.

It gives them game info by doing it...I thought you did it to check for yourself.

Yeah. No not really, in most cases the bot owns the product already in my experience and will give feedback inicating that. You might still have a dupe. But sometimes if it does not own it, it will correctly idenify a dupe. So, it's not all THAT useful as a check. But I am usually pretty confident in my keys.

Yeah. No not really,
Just :ROFLMAO:

Well if they all come from fueda I would think it has them by now... along with any that ain't brand new/dev keys...I doubt your the only person who does it.
But I am usually pretty confident in my keys.
How are you so confident? I mean fueda is a toss up unless you really dig through the list of possible dupes, which is insane if your going to just drop them and don't even care if a bot eats them :ROFLMAO:

The only way I can see that is if you buy or trade for the keys you give away, and I would hope you don't ninja drop those lol.

Quid pro quo my friend

I have a question or two.

1) Whats with all the questions?

I mean this one was totally random, unlike the other one about region locks. I'm not even trying to be a jerk, I'm just curious why your so curious I suppose, if that makes sense lol.

2) Why do you not post these in Gamers Lair? Its more the discussion area...although I suppose they do always seem to be about 'keys'...so it sort of makes sense in a way...but again, just curious.

:) Maybe it's too late for me, didn't quite get the humor? :) I need to get to bed.

Probably true!

Because they are not from feuda ;) I buy my keys, so they should be good. When I end up with extras I trade some, give some away (mostly giveawys) and when I have inconsitencies in my records/feel unsure I am likely to do a keydrop.

I buy keys for giveaways.

Yeah, well what can I say? Its late. The first question was really useful to me though. This one maybe not so much.

I am not yet familiar with the rest of the forum threads. And like you say, it was key related, so... I'll find a more appropriate thread for my questions in the future :)

I also buy my keys, so I understand that...idk if I'd be comfortable throwing them at a bot though

Nobody here is complaining, honestly I think you would get better results with these type of questions here...the lair is more lively and people tend to get upset much easier there if something doesn't interest them and spans multiple posts.

Personally idfc where people talk or drop keys...its whatever.

So long as people don't screw over the community, spam GAs to hell, or insult me directly...I pretty much just roll past anything I have no interest in or don't want to deal with...but thats just me

I didn't want to make you fell like it was a bad thing my friend.

If it bothers people they will say something...it doesn't bother me at all (y)

Did not find a thread regarding someone claiming this one. Is it still available? I do not see this item in the DLC list on Steam.
I have a key for that as well if it fails, I can't guarantee I didn't give it away already...but its worth a shot, let me know (y)

I got that wrong, it should be a flat steam code, those instructions were for equipping it. Sorry, read too fast.

That would be helpful.

I received the "Too many attempts" message already and have to wait. It doesn't say how long I have to wait, but I have to wait until "later".

1. It's true, his questions tend to be very direct and he's not trying to be a jerk, on Web Forums it can be off-putting if the person doesn't know you, so I'm just going to vouch for him on that. If he's actually being rude, trust me, you'll know. :ROFLMAO:
2. You really did just answer your own question there, didn't you? :ROFLMAO:
I think he's trying to get a feel for the Forum and how people react differently depending on the Thread, I think he might've been shot down in Gamers Lair, he was right to ask it here instead (personal opinion).

Make no mistake about it, if you feed the bot a nice shiny new key for a game that it doesn't own yet, it will eat your key and turn it into a nice shiny dupe. That's how it goes about machine learning what it can about that game it just acquired (depot info/app packages/related DLC, etc.).
Leave this up to the rich guys who don't care about their keys, they buy brand new games/rare games just to feed the bot for the benefit of others, or maybe the Game Devs themselves do it.

I can relate, when people started sending me Wishlist games, I didn't know if I should publicly thank them in Gamers Lair or not. I thought I would get shot down for doing it, or maybe people would start to ask why they didn't get a free game as well (I did see at least 1 post where people said that used to happen, so I had some reason to believe it) after I saw enough people thanking others for games, and not getting shot down for doing it, I went ahead and thanked everyone that had sent me something. So yeah, I waited until I was familiar with that thread before I posted my public thanks. It's smart of you to get a feel for each thread before you start posting material that lines up with what others are posting in that thread. (y)

Yeah, we are all good now. :) I bribed him into liking me again ;D

It most def. will! So, I admit being selective about what keys I feed the bot. They are intented gifts (and mostly cheap keys): I'll leave most stuff for (as you say) the rich and developers. I really think the devs. should contribute; it's just one key. I've feed the bot 45 keys, 15 got activated and one dupe. So, 29 keys I was free to give away after the bot looked at them. I like that, feels like I get more use out of my key (like "double use"). And, at least for now, I am happy when the bot manages activate as well, hoping the DB gets better. I'll STFU about the bot now, just felt like answering your post.

Wow, really? I am really going to think about were I post then. And maybe even think a little more about what I post. Sorry, for the noise guys! I'll get back on topic now, promise! :)
