Yeah, this is correct, sorry. 🙇‍♂️

This is message from Steam:

You are asking us to permanently remove Crusader Kings II from your account .... Other games purchased in the same package (Crusader Kings II) may also be removed.

Please carefully review the list of products you will no longer own below.

Note: Games will not be automatically uninstalled nor will achievements and playtime be removed from your profile. You should uninstall before removing, or you will need to manually remove local content later. In addition, should you repurchase this game in the future, you will not receive a different CD key.
If you proceed, your account ... will no longer own the following products:
Crusader Kings II
Crusader Kings II: African Portraits
Crusader Kings II: South Indian Portraits 5 Year Anniversary Gift
That's interesting.. Upon refunding a game you get to "keep" the free dlc. I was expecting something similar here.. Huh

Thanks!

so...it wasn't meant to be the way it's given away?
It was meant as a keydrop to the owners of it on itch.io
Obviously it got found and shown everywhere

My "problem" with it (apart from the devs wishes) is that, even thought it's a good game, almost NOBODY cared to even claim it when it was free on itch.io buuuut the second the saw a steam key, nobody batted an eye..

what the point of giving it to someone who's already own it alas on other platform?
sounds not very thoughtful...

maybe it's connected with the fact that steam keys can be used on other platforms as a fuel for giveaways or trades?
also Steam has far more ppl in itself then itch.io will ever have, just a fact - in other words everyone have a steam account, but not so many ppl even heard about itch.io, so all of it's logical.

I shoot chickens, nothing more lol.
I'm not convinced there's never been any choking involved. 🤨
Sorry not sorry! 😁
Okay, maybe I really am sorry! 😅

If the service (itch.io) dies, you lose the game.
Only if you haven't already downloaded it first. (Or if you lose your backups.)
Whereas with Steam, it varies by game, but in many cases it'll be difficult to play games after Steam's eventual demise, even if you have already downloaded the game.

It is. But this isn't the place for a discussion :p Regardless.. Yes or no, that's why they were given away.

And utterly irrelevant.. It simply doesn't matter
And no. If you read other forums, discord, reddit, etc you'll see that they simply don't want them. Not that they don't know them.

My problem wasn't that you and the rest redeemed them but that they were distributed outside of the dev's wishes and intentions. I don't expect a public list to live because of "morals" and it makes little sense. Better than a secondary acc claiming them..
But I'm annoyed that nobody cared up until they saw a steam key.. "gamers"

That's not just it. Most will never update the files. The more years go by and new systems get developed (windows etc) the less likely is that we'll be able to play them. Like it's a hassle to play a 1998 game from a floppy disk xD
