Multi stage captchas for every single giveaway? Seriously?

I understand the site often struggles and maybe captchas for every giveaway is an attempt to reduce site load. But if that is the purpose it absolutely isn't working. I'm getting "try again in a few minutes" all the time right now, and sometimes 500 errors. This change did not improve site performance at all.

Besides that, it's making it ridiculous to try to even enter giveaways. It's taking upwards of 20 seconds sometimes for the captcha on a giveaway to even appear in the first place (I litterly timed it because the delay was happening almost every giveaway). Then you have to do something like click every box with a street sign, then (still same giveaway) you have to do another one like click every box with a car in it. This makes trying to enter just just one single giveaway take close to a minute if it's really slow.

And this happens on every giveaway?

Let's pretend the site wasn't even having any problems at all. Is it really reasonable in any way to make people do two sets of captcha for every giveaway? Would you use a site yourself where you had to do that every giveaway, every time? Would you?

I have honestly never seen a site use so many captchas in my life. All this is doing is wasting time.

If this is to improve site performance it does not work. If this is an attempt to block some kind of automated entry of giveaways, there has to be a more sane way of doing it that does not make it a pain for legitimate users to enter giveaways. If it is IG's goal to change the giveaways section so that it is as unusable as possible even when the site is working properly, then they may have succeded.

I don't normally rant like this. But two sets of captchas per giveaway, every giveaway. I'm 99.99% certain there is no other site anywhere that handles giveaways like this. And unlike site errors, this looks like a deliberate (and absolutely overkill) disrespect for people's time.

It take 6 clicks now to "try again in a few minutes", then again; a totally horrible choice in usability terms.

Never post in the forums before, but im with you, is an awful form to attempt to block automated entries and only make everithing worse for the legit users.
The last 4 giveaways i try to join was 3 double captchas to finish with an error and have to try again...

Sorry about my bad english :p

Way to not fix things and make things worse for the users, especially considering that validating the captcha still leads to an error. This website is pure garbage.

I understand the desire to prevent bots from swamping the site, overloading the traffic, and entering the giveaways in a less than fair way. But the sudden change with an "I'm not a robot" along with multi-image choices, sometimes more than one of them, on every single giveaway entered seems to be overkill, especially from a user-interface perspective. Most users do enter more than one giveaway at a time, since they get 240 credits per day to spend on entries. I typically enter them every day (and I've created dozens of them myself).

Suggestion -- can we find a way to do the first giveaway in a session with such a Captcha, then track that user's session as a trusted user for the remainder of that session? Or if site devs are worried about a user answering the Captcha, then launching a bot for the rest of the same session, it could be based on a time factor. Users can enter giveaways fairly rapidly if they are opening a page worth in multiple tabs, but still not as fast as a bot could do. A time differential of giveaways entered for the same user could help ID the difference between a human and a bot.

Captcha are boring...
Seriously, you are doing the same mistake as 2000 legit games that have controls and doesn't always works compared to pirated games that works easilly.
Here, people won't come agaik and will gone on an other site...
Internet begin to be unusable due to multiple password rules and captchas..... and advertises that make longer to open a webpage.

LOL. Thats insane. That would take two hours a day to use all the IG-Points. That also explains why IG-Helper isnt working anymore.
What is my Level 6 now good for when its not usable anymore?

The funny thing is, that even with this captcha sh*t you still get error messages. That's pathetic IG...

So even though the site-load has been reduced they havent fixed the problem... so they can actually revert their changes and remove those captchas again...

Hi, I'm very happy with Indiegala, and I think the security measures are fine ;), but a capcha with 2 parts on each giveaway is excessive ;(.

No, no, no and no again, lol! :)

Captcha for EVERY giveaway entry makes the Giveaways section of the site practically unusable. I understand the need to try and tackle abuse, but this is a cure that is worse than the disease. One Captcha every twenty or thirty or forty entries, for example, would be workable for the average user, but Captcha is not really suitable for a Giveaways system where you can potentially click on 240 giveaways every day and deal with Captcha for every one - twice!

Amazing that the site actually works perfectly. You people should just open a window for every giveaway you are interested in. Makes things go a lot faster when you are doing all the clicking. Plus the site loads properly now. No errors at all unlike yesterday when the site pages or giveaways claimed to be not be found.

This may not be true for all. Pages loaded quickly for me earlier today, but just now I tried to open a few giveaway pages where I got the usual "No giveaways found" message, even though I was definitely on a page number that existed. The load times seem better today, but I'm still seeing a few of the usual errors.

I do already open each giveaway in a separate tab to process it, but now each entry is now taking on average 7-20 clicks to enter (depending on the Captcha image itself, and how many of them you have to do).

The problem with the excessive Captchas is separate from how well the server is responding, however. It's excessively tedious from a user-interface perspective. Many valid users may not want to participate any more. (Not just in entering giveaways, but in creating them as well).

Its bad enough the site gives constant errors but now captcha's on every giveaway too? Seriously? This site is going more and more downhill. It's a pity there's few sites that do giveaways like this. Though like 90%+ of the giveaways here anyways are just free games people get from elsewhere..
