NEgative feed backs and trolls on Indie Gala

Well, that does it - I can officially confirm that even making giveaways for higher levels wouldn't help you with avoiding trolls. :( (should have been "sad" smile - forum is glitchy)
I just got my second negative feedback - and as with first one giveaway was for DLC, as with first one winner doesn't have a base game himself, but as with the first one - I get negative. Trolls? I'd say so.

Giveaways in questions:

1. https://www.indiegala.com/giveaways/detail/82462
and a winner - https://www.indiegala.com/trades/user/4040c15c473c11e6b25da16bfcac8825

2. https://www.indiegala.com/giveaways/detail/145574
and a winner - https://www.indiegala.com/trades/user/febdbb73063911e69a0e97df5144d201
And this guy doesn't even accept my friend request - I get dismissed.

I'm not even that sad about losing those keys and not getting anything (even that little amount of points) in return - I just hate been slighted by unscupulous people without any way of protecting myself.
BTW - key for second GA came from IG - fom gift copy of a bundle. Since there is no way to make a giveaway with those without opening the key - that's how it can turn out. There SHOULD be a way to make guaranteed giveaways with gift copies.
Also - there SHOULD be a way to prevent people from entering giveaways for DLCs if they don't have the base game itself.

And yes - I've send email to support, hope they would answer and not just with "sorry but we can't do anything about it".

Yes, thats shitty like hell that you can join a ga for a dlc for a game you do not own. Thats why I only use steamgifts till IG do something about this trolls/fakes.

Why do you think it's shitty? There were few expensive DLC's for the games, where I wouldn't buy it normally, but I would buy the game, which was discounted, if I won DLC, to enjoy it. You say it's wrong?
I can also give it to the friend, who have the game, or to anyone else I want, if I decide to not buy the game. If I get something from giveaway, it's fair that I can giveaway it too, if I can't or decide to not use it, isn't it?

Also, there are many "free" games with paid DLC's, so it doesn't matter if you have it in your library or not. If it's free, you kind of have it at any time, right? :)

Flying Tarrasque (Kusavil),

I think you're missing the point. The OP isnt annoyed he/she gave the DLC away, its the fact that he/she got negative feedback for giving a game away that the winner could not use because he/she did not have the main/base game even though the key was probably valid. Its the main reason why i have some dlc keys but i am refusing to give them away for fear of negative feedback.

I agree with Flying Tarrasque that giving away DLC is fine, even if the receiver doesn't have it. I think that the real problem is the way the rep system works in general. There's no way to communicate between the giver and receiver. I got neg'd for one giveaway a couple of months back, and I have no idea why. Maybe if we could communicate directly about the giveaway, things like this could be cleared up and the neg avoided. Beyond that, there should be a way to protest a neg if there isn't grounds for it.

Trading has the same problems...if I look at my list of completed trade results, I can see the game I traded and the game that I received...but absolutely no information about the person I traded with. I recently had a $15 game that I traded for another $15 game...but when I went to register my received game, the title said "for beta" at the end of it. Now, that may just be a Steam issue, because it's not marked as beta after it was downloaded. But, let's say that I play it for a while and find limitations...or what if it was definitely a beta? I'd like to talk to this person on Steam and ask them to make it right. I'm willing to forgive if it wasn't intentional and they're willing to send me something else to make up for it, and even send a positive in that case. Just like on eBay, there's forgiveness (for reasonable humans, at least) when a vendor corrects a messed-up situation.

The point is, all of us are gamers, and most of us are probably decent people and could work out a lot of these situations ourselves if the right features were in place. A lot of the code on the site is a little on the sketchy side (I analyzed some, and kept finding Flash references. Seriously? Flash? In 2016?).

First: if you click on the username you get to the IG user page and if you click on the username there you will get the steam profile. From there on you can use the means steam is offering.

Second: yea ... a bit creepy, I would guess it is used from/by a standard js lib (browser fingerprinting).

Unfortunately at this point all you can do to remedy the situation is email to support and wait for them to get to it, even us mods have basically the same tools as you do.

So we have to do this for random negatives? I just recently got started with unloading my unwanted stuff. I've already got a downvote on one, and I know it's valid. I'm looking right at the bundle I got it from. Yet I have no idea why I got downvoted nor any way to resolve it. Instead, I look like a scamming noob.

Not sure if this was to me (as OP) or some other poster... Anyway - I did email support (with screenshots and links and all) and I got a reply of "We sent emails to them and when they reply we will get back to you". OK, but what if they don't reply? What would be a deadline for awaiting reply - a week? A month? Forever?
And even if they do - looks like no matter evidence on my side (especially in the first case where winner ADMITTED in conversation false negative, and I have a screen to show) it will be my word against theirs. And if they already lie - who said they will not do so again?
Again - I'm not calling anybody specifically a bad person, but this situation is quite annoying and more than a little discouraging. I will await for reply (not like I have any other choice) and I really don't want to stop doing giveaways (especialy as I have many, many duplicates - I'm probably buying too many bundles), but I might stick to doing only guaranteed ones from now on - just to be on the safe side. And the rest of them keys? Well, there are still trades...

Just faced that problem - person wins a +2500 exp giveaway - refuse to mark as recieved and blocked me on steam upon friend request - basically with NO a single way to fix that situation because there is no rules or bans on indiegala for that i see no reason to continue giving games. I could just post the key in steam chat with the same success

It's not a beta key. It's a key generated by developer, it was most likely saying *for beta testiing* - its a default text that is in there, the developer can write there anything he likes.

Don't know what game was mentioned here by the first poster... But it can be both way, because some keys don't get deactivated and after Beta is over game stays on your account but some keys get revoked (or expire) and you lose that game and have to buy it. And even with those that stays - you can get full version or limited version (if in full release some features were changed or added) - that all depends on how developer treats it and what "markers" are attached to this particular bunch of keys. So all depends on the game in question and without knowing what it was there's nothing that can be said for sure. Reading forums and developer site/blog would help to sort it out if you not sure if it is indeed temporal beta or if you would get full game forever.

The answer is always "Sorry, we can't do anything about it", so the cheaters/trolls/etc. know they can do whatever they feel like doing. Having nothing but negative feedback the only policing structure is the most stupid idea I've ever seen. Whoever came up with this shouldn't be allowed to make any decisions in the company ever again.

True that! I have lost a good key due to some guy who I traded with was a fraud; I couldn't have known because he had no feedback at the time, so I asked IndieGala to give me his contact details, and they did, turned out he had a private Steam profile, so I could not contact him about this. I reported the account to Steam but they probably won't do anything about that. I do think IndieGala should take more responsibility with the trade system; 3 false trades/feedbacks (BUT with the option to plead your case, because I received feedback for DLC once because the guy thought it was the full game but I clearly stated otherwise) and you're removed/blocked/whatever from IndieGala for life!

BTW, here's the prick, so don't trade with him: https://www.indiegala.com/trades/user/c1486e33a20511e6aee3abcabcbedade
