Hi all,
apologies to everyone for the issues but we go a TREMENDOUS amount of traffic over the past 24hrs.

Honestly we did not imagine such success for the celebrations of 10 years of indiegala, we gave away several great games in the past, and we regulary do it every week as you know, but we have beenhit by a spike that is from 5 to 10 times bigger than the usual spike we have when we deliver a free game ( even a great one ).

That said i am writing you to inform you that most of the performance issues of our content servers are now solved and you should be able to download from client ( or .zip archive as you prefer ) with decent performance.

We are constantly monitoring the situation, please use this thread for feedback and for get updates from us.

Thank you.

Hello! After installing the game, the smart screen lock notice appears and I remove it. When I start the game in administrator mode I put my email and password and it appears: there was an error. As much as I reinstall the client and change the password, I can't find the solution.

Note: In the version previous to the current one if you could enter, perhaps you have uninstalled first the client and then the die young prologue game, and that has generated a conflict ... Any solution? Please!

Please excuse me, but in the last few weeks I have downloaded a lot of games.
The download speed was not really noticeably higher.
I often had to pause the downloads in the Client because I will not let my computer run over night because of the download.
This resulted in some games having to be re-downloaded because the files were corrupted.
If we could check the game files for errors after installation (also check the files after pause), as with other clients, then this would certainly make everything easier and also reduce the traffic a little bit.
At the moment it is also hardly possible to load the ZIP's (Games more than 250mb) via the browser because the download is constantly interrupted and a resumption of the download is not supported by the server. So much unnecessary traffic Indiegale produces itself, so to speak.

I don't think the game will work once the download is complete.
But thanks should be said at this point when I look at my library.

EDIT:
I looked at it again, it is as it is, via NetBalancer I can track very well what is happening. I start the download and the download works fine for 1-6 minutes at 750-1900 kb/s . After that I get 0 bytes of data for a few minutes, only when I pause the download in the client I get data from the server again at an acceptable speed.
But I will certainly not press pause every few minutes with such a title.

Hi.
Thank you for your feedback.
It is curious, as this appears to be exactly the same problem that plagued us yesterday.
The server was underpowered for such a peak of traffic.
We had 100,000 unique users who added the game to the library in the last 24 hours and tried to download the game from the client.
Plus there was also a minor bug in the client that put some downloads on stale under rare circumnstances.

But since we rebuilt the server with a new, much more powerful machine, we haven't experienced any queued packets anymore.

As I write this post I downloaded Die Young in about 12 minutes.
13 GB in 12 minutes from our location (Italy).

Numerous users report average speeds in various parts of the world (USA, Russia, Japan, Great Britain) which are around 1GB of data downloaded every minute. Without interruptions.

You don't need to hit pause / resume if you see download is slow.

Can I ask you:
1 - where are you downloading from?
2 - what is your average download speed if you run a speed test? ( you should download at least at 1/3th of your maximum possible speed )
2- Do you have the latest version of the client? (1.6.1)

A thousand thanks.

Hello.

what is smart screen lock sorry?
Can you post a screenshot?

Game should ask you no password at all.
You don't have to reinstall the client if you got version 1.6.1.

What happens if you try to run the game, directly clicking on DieYoung.exe inside the folder?

1 - Germany
2 - max speed ist 2100 KB/s
3 - Client is 1.6.1

At the moment the download works constant at a good speed between 700- 1900 KB/s, many times i get 0 Byte Data from the server after 1-6 minutes of download.
I can solve this only with the pause button in the client.

I give it up.
One of the great advantages of a client is that the user doesn't have to worry about downloads and can check their games for corrupted files.
This client does not offer this, the downloads do not work for me, constantly the download stops after a few minutes and does not resume. Also the downloads via the browser only work well if they are small downloads. With larger downloads of more than 1 GB, it becomes more difficult as the download gets larger. Many of the 90 games I downloaded do not work due to corrupted files. My only option is to download these games again with the browser. Because of this I don't see any sense in using the IGClient any longer.
For owners of an internet line with "Ludicrous Speed" this might work.
I can spare myself further comments on this now, because Uninstall has already been executed, because the client is still far from a beta for me.

Came here to ask for a Owned/Unowned filter on the Home and Freebies pages in the client.
Having a quick look through the thread, it existed but was removed?
This was LITERALLY the first thing I looked for on opening the 'Freebies & More' tab.
I would HIGHLY suggest you re-add it.

I'm also getting 'ERROR! There was a problem launching the game.' errors.
A specific example of which is: https://dggames.indiegala.com/bugs-must-die
I'm installing to a non-standard directory:
Code:
D:\Games\bugs-must-die
All the folder contains is a file named
Code:
undefined
And this file contains the following HTML repeated six times:

HTML:
<html>
<head><title>404 Not Found</title></head>
<body bgcolor="white">
<center><h1>404 Not Found</h1></center>
<hr><center>nginx/1.12.1 (Ubuntu)</center>
</body>
</html>

I've attached it if it helps at all (probably not)
I've tried re-installing multiple times (hours apart) with no luck at all.

I have successfully installed and run: https://freebies.indiegala.com/die-young with no issues.
I'm going to assume it's a server side issue, nothing local.

Great to see so much interest in the new promotion
I suspect that a lot of the extra bandwidth you saw was also due to how many people had to download it repeatedly until it was not corrupt.
Personally I downloaded it 3 times. 2 slow corrupt failures with the client, and 1 fast but not corrupted zip via my download manager.

A suggestion to avoid corruptions.
Those unique chunk names you use for the temp files. What about naming the files after a hash, so that each chunk can automatically be validated like p2p systems.
If you are using hashing then you need to use a known reliable one instead, or fix the validation stage.
The Manifest files reference SHA but I don't see a match do you ?
Hashes.png

To reduce server load you should consider doing the same as Windows updates does, and use a built-in p2p layer.
This would also give you a hashed system with automatic file validation.
Most p2p systems do not use trackers and torrents (that is just the one system the uneducated public are aware of).
You have a variety of reliable open source distribution tools at your disposal that will reduce your running costs, while providing the users with faster more reliable downloads.

I haven't searched through the history but no games can begin to download unless I set the download path to be the root of my drives.

Update v1.6.5 bugs.
The contents of my library no longer display.
The contents of Freebies and More does not display.

If I load the client with it opening first in my library, the correct text for organising the display of the page is shown (All, Installed, Fav).
Once clicking on a different section, the library page does not load (I can see the text on the left of the UI does not change to bold)

v1.6.5
The bugs I experienced yesterday are gone.
I assume this was a cache or backend issue, but it seems OK now.
