Steam key for a dlc

I went to redeem a giveaway key but this message showed up:

"Please Activate the original game. The product code you've entered requires ownership of another product before activation."

From what I looked up, this means hat the code I got was for a DLC or extra content of a game I don't own, in which case, how can I know which game it belongs to? It doesn't tell me. I could buy the original game so then I could use this key, but theres no way to know?

you can use inspect element, go to the steam webpage logged in, paste the key in the redeem field, open inspect element on chrome F12 or Ctrl+shift+i, go to the network tab, now try to redeem the code on the steam page while inspect is open, on the inspect page the word "ajaxregisterkey" will appear now click on that and scroll to the right until "line_item_description" after that line it will show the game, dlc or package name

Oh. OH! I wasn't expecting it but yeah! This definitively works! It even was for a free game so I could redeem the code easily!
