Sudden change of profile name/avatar

So today when I entered indiegala I suddenly see an unfamiliar avatar and name in my profile. Those used to be taken from my connected steam account but now there are some bullshit star for avatar and OrangeMalevolenceAlchemy for a name. Was my profile hacked? I changed password just in case. Or is it some bug? And how do I even change my avatar back?

UPD: In the forum it shows correct name/avatar, but in profile I see different. WTF?

I would really advise against holding your breath on this one. IG doesn't seem to be big on communication, whether that's here or on reddit or anywhere else it might really matter; they're doing whatever they're doing in a vacuum. It's ultimately going to kill their business.

Same with me. I got scared for a second and actually started typing up a mail to Support about it when I thought of looking around over here.
If this has happened to so many others it seems to be more of a system glitch than an actual attack especially that nothing else like my unused keyes or my connected accounts were messed with.

Looking at the avatar's filename it's a "default" avatar so maybe IG is trying to roll out a change to include user made avatars and usernames instead of include ones from connected accounts... that or they messed up and the system "forgot" or is unable to grab them form said accounts.

Gonna wait and see what happens.

Happened to me too. Username changed to OrangeGraveyardKing (anyone else with the OrangeNounNoun pattern?) and avatar changed. I still see my proper username and password here in the forum even though I haven't changed it back yet.

Definitely a mini-heart-attack in terms of potential hacking shenanigans.

So far I've observed that they seem somewhat halloween themed, always starting with a colour. Not sure if they're planning some sort of event, since you can also change that 'nickname' you get. I much preferred my steam avatar over the random image.
