Suggestions - Trade Sector

For many years I am a user of the trade sector, always creating several ads every month. And creating trade announcements is very tiring and since the beginning of the trade sector, I've seen very few improvements to make the user's life easier. So I would like to leave to Indiegala, some improvement suggestions regarding the trade announcements.

Suggestion 1 - Create an option to extend the ad for longer. (This would avoid the job of creating the ad again)
Suggestion 2 - Create more duration options (4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks).
Suggestion 3 - Create an option to edit the ad.
Suggestion 4 - Create an option to delete the ad. (This option has been requested by many users for a long time ... and until today nothing).

...

Also, I genuinely wish they add a limit/restriction regarding how many times we can list games up on the trade section to prevent some users from abusing the system cause it's getting pathetic now as some people who keep spamming their games on the different available periods (3-7-14 days) as if we are blind and don't see their shit all over the place already ... It's just a pointless and stupid act to say the least.

It's so simple though, just prevent users from listing the same games again if they already have them listed until the duration expires.

Thank you for your suggestions.

we could not look immediately into it because we were busy launching new redesigned indiegala.

Now that it is live as long as we are stabilizing it we will dedicate next month to improve giveaways and trades section.
so expect all your suggestions implemented by the end of this month!

Also this is an interesting suggestion and we will work on it in the month of May.

I've got some suggestions for the giveaway sector. I hope this is the right place to make them...

1) How about making it a requirement to be at least level one (or have at least received, say, 10 - or 20 - positive reactions to your GAs) in order to be eligible for giving negative feedback (very similar to the way the big four letter online auction site is working)?

2) How about making the recipient contact the giver (via form...) before giving negative feedback? This would give the giver the opportunity to make things right.

3) The other suggestion is from a comment I made some time ago on the Report Giveaways Here thread

Thanks for responding, RiciRick.

I liked the new website design, I haven't explored everything yet, but it was incredible. Congratulations on the work.

Make these improvements in your time. I am already happy that the suggestions can be implemented.

Finally you guys are listening! Thank you though.

I've got one more suggestion and hopefully some users here would agree with me. Please consider preventing level 0 steam accounts from trading (Even from joining) as well. Many legit traders here got scammed by those people behind these fake accounts! Some of them kept coming back with different accounts (Recently created ones, some didn't even bother to set up their profiles properly ...) again and again since there's nothing preventing them. Reliable traders don't need to use an alt/fake account to trade though ...

Best of luck!

Thanks for will be doing it all!
I would also ask you to add notifications to the profile that me wrote a message in trades, as now to see your message you have to make bad offers to discuss trade with someone. Since now many messages remain unnoticed.

I feel like several users keep monopoly over trade section, 90% of it is 4-5 people. I'm not saying that they are bad or scammers, nothing like that, but it needs to be regulated. Maybe limit the number of trades that user can make. That way, people will offer the best trades they have and when they are done with them, they can get rid of less desirable ones. Maybe the more you level - the more trades you can make...
I am aware that some of those users who are "owning" the trade section are following this thread and I hope they can understand this critique and not take my words personally, I am just trying to express my perspective.

These brainless individuals do not care at all though hence why they doing it on purpose despite knowing it's a stupid act and as you can see even after we discussed this here weeks ago and they already saw the discussion yet they keep doing the same shit again so yea, don't expect them to stop ...
Luckily,RiciRick said that they're working on doing something about it this month so let's wait and hope for the best.

Welp, this is the main reason why I stopped trading here and I only do it in the forums.

I would LOVE to get filters or something simillar, to be able to "hide" the trades of games that I don't want, or users that I not want to see.

THIS! Agree 100%.

Something like filters or blacklist would be perfect. I did mention this to support team few days ago and i genuinely hope that they take this suggestion seriously.

Is there any way to receive a notification when an offer is made? Because I don't think there is, and I'm clueless as to why a feature like this wouldn't be available.

"we will work on it in the month of May " they said. Now it's almost November and still nothing done about clowns like @solomon who spam their games on every available period (Now he's on a whole other level, he literally spam his shit every two days at this point). Contacted Paula and it's all the same talk "The technicians have so much to do now but they will do it as soon as possible ". The trading section is an absolute joke and yet IG folks couldn't care less ... At least, if you're that lazy and don't care about implementing a blacklist feature just prevent users from listing the same games again if they have them already listed.

Also, unrelated suggestion, but once a trade has less than a day left, listing the number of hours:minutes left would be more helpful in place of just "0 days left".

As of now "Trades" section is suffocating from lack of "fresh blood" traders, alienated by sheer volume of monopoly a few "big fishes" are holding over it, taking up 90% of the visibility.
For better understanding as to why this is bad and reduces competition (i.e. something that always drives up the quality of any product and service for the end user), we can compare Trades to a bazar style marketplace. Usually, one trader gets one trading spot (let's measure it as 1square meter area). Then the marketplace area is distributed more or less equally among the traders, who are interested in placing the best product they can to grab the attention of customer.

Now if we'd convert the current "Trades" section into said marketplace, we'd end up seeing marketplace that consists of one or two traders, taking up a hundred square meters worth of trading area each, all to their own, with all their products unloaded straight on the floor by a dump truck, just waiting for someone to randomly pick something up.
There's no competition in such scheme (why would a single trader compete with himself? Against who), so the marketplace will inevitably dry up due to lack of fresh arrival products, other traders with their much more limited, but highly curated inventory and, at the very last phase of market's "death", drain of the end customers, not wanting to spend their time browsing through trash in hope of finding something worthy.

Solution?
Hard cap at how many trades one is able to have simultaneously (I'd stop at 10, for a start) would force each trader to pick the very best they have to ensure fastest conversion rate (it will also provide level playing field for all other traders in terms of visibility)
It will save the "Trades" section for everyone, old and new.

I'm not risking pinging any IG staff, but I'd be really happy if someone redirects this suggestion to them in hope of improving and revitalising the existing trading sub-platform, many would love to use once the "economy" gets fixed a bit.

Thank you for your attention.

I disagree. I think that limiting the amount of trade per user, will not solve the problem ... it will only decrease the supply and harm the trade sector.

I create an average of 250 trades per month, in the period of 2 weeks and hope to end the term. The next month I do everything again. Having enough offers is important, because there are many users who do not create a trade, but make a lot of trade offers.

What is happening in the Trading Sector is the lack of common sense and abuse of the system of some users. There are users who create their trades in the three available periods (3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks) and do not even expect to run out of time, doing everything again. This is unnecessary.

I think the best solution for this was said by the aqua user.
It's so simple though, just prevent users from listing the same games again if they already have them listed until the duration expires.

In what particular way having less trash to browse through will harm trade sector?

Right now the biggest trade creators are throwing dozens upon dozens of throwaway trash nobody could care less about, meanwhile the much bigger portion of users (those who offer) have to browse through 40 to 60 pages on average, if they want to check the whole lot or make sure they didn't miss any new trade (which can pop up everywhere from "2 days remaining" to the middle of pages to the very end)

Meanwhile I haven't seen lately anyone spamming the same game three times for all three periods available (and, even if such cases occur - feel free to post some current examples - this issue is disproportionately less intrusive as the inconvenienve of browsing through several dozens of pages of unfiltered trash)

If a few users wish to become the kings of the desert, let them. Let them spam hundreds of games every month with only a few trades, eventually they will come to zero trade. And they will keep spamming until the solution appears. I don't trade my games on this site anymore, I gave up a few months ago, it is futile.
How many times are you going to post the same stupid game that was free few months ago, before you realize that nobody wants to trade with you for that ****? There are some people with bot mentality here and they are stuck in a loop.
Enjoy your loop-hole while it lasts.
