The giver should know what key they're giving away and link to the correct Steam page. That's why the feedback system is in place: if the giver links to the wrong game page, or the key just doesn't work, you can give negative feedback to discourage them from cheating the system like that.

how do you know what game you win without redeeming it?
You must try to activate the key and if you already own the game, Steam will tell you about it and will offer you to install the game. But the key is not consumed and can still be used by someone else.
Without trying to activate the key you can't figure out what game it is for.

They aren't random keys, they're extra keys. If you buy a Humble Bundle for example, you get a Steam key for each game. Humble Bundle is telling you what game the key is for. Where are you getting keys that you don't know what they are? That sounds extremely sketchy.

I won this key in Indiegala's gameplay giveaway (Feudalife Challenge). For these keys, Indiegala doesn't reveal which game the key is for. You have to activate it to find out.

Ask @valike13, they frequently put games up that've been won from the gameplay giveaway. I've never played the gameplay giveaway so I don't know how to help you, sorry.
