What about completely removing completed giveaway check?

Yes, please remove the need to check if you won. Just place giveaways in the won tab if you win.

The novelty of clicking a giveaway you entered to see if you win wears off after a day or two and having to check over 200 giveaways to see if you won can get very tiresome. For me this is a no brainer.

Two weeks sounds a bit long to make people wait for feedback on their giveaways. One week would probably be enough to help prevent automatic positive feedback abuse without making people wait too long for feedback.
I think it needs to be a bit longer if they plan on adding a weekly notification for emails.
I believe right now the time for feedback is only 3 days or so. The tail-end of a weekly notification could easily be missed if someone isn't actively checking for some reason (like vacation).

I understand the need to wait, but honestly anyone remotely active on the site the levels are far enough apart in terms of leveling XP that I really don't think it's that much of a stretch. Frankly I can't check every day during busy weeks, and honestly would love an implementation of an external notification like email (or maybe something integrating into the forums to give some sort of on site notification).
Personally I don't like the idea of popups, since I feel as though most users are probably been inadvertently guided to ignore them since the web is so full of them.

Could we please get some kind of confirmation that this is going to happen? It should be clear at this point that people are in favor of giveaway checking going away entirely.

If you need even more detail showing that the current setup is not user friendly, look at Extra Odds giveaways. That is now practically broken.

Today, for the first time since the "check all" button was removed, an Extra Odds giveaway I had entered ended. And boy, was I shocked. The site wants you to check every single entry for the Extra Odds giveaway one by one? EVERY ENTRY INDIVIDUALLY?

That means if you have more than one hundred entries on an Extra Odds giveaway, you have to check more than one hundred times for a single giveaway?

No. I am not doing that. That is ridiculous. That is a deal breaker. Site designers, would you want to check one hundred times just to see if you won one single giveaway?

What is the point of even having Extra Odds giveaways if you are going to do that?

So, please, could we please get confirmation that giveaway checking is going to be removed, so people can relax, and stop having to keep complaining about this?

If it's something that's going to take a while, or you have to figure out how first, or whatever, then yeah, it can take a while to get something new in place. But please, don't be silent while you get it figured out. Let us know this is going to happen.

Yes, "check if you won!" should be changed/removed cuz in this state its takes way too much time and as we already noticed also overloads servers, so its a lose-lose situation.

I understand you wanted to make a feeling that you are checking tickets like irl in front of your TV but its fun only for a few days, after it just gets very annoying

That's interesting,
let's see in this thread if more users would like it to work this way.....!
Good day, admin.

Look, I'm not entering a forum since a kid (looong time ago), and in this case I enter only to find a thread concerning this check all button missing. It's a waste of time for all to have to check each giv. Concerned about latency? Don't think about it twice. And I do perfectly agree with the two Oh The Folly suggestions, like the other giveaways site (steamgifts).

Be wise, make things simpler.
Regards

Hi all.

And thank you all for your suggestions and all your feedback.

we understood that removing completely the 'check_all' button is not an ideal solution,
especially, as pointed out, for the extra odds.

That, said, even redesigning the system in order to completely automate it would require us more effort than to optimize it. It is not something we are going to discard, just something that we will not implement now, since we prefer to spend much of our working day fixing issues and stabilizing the system rather than introducing new features ( and technically, this would be a new feature for the amount of work to do ).

But, we have good news, we spent much of the past couple of days optimizing the 'check all' flow and refactoring much of it.
We are happy to announce that we can safely reintroduce it because performance is no longer an issue.

Thank you all again for your contribute!

Thank you for putting check all back!(y)

And thanks for the details too. It's nice knowing what's going on a little behind the scene, because then it makes sense why things are being done the way they are.

Also, sorry if I got a bit overexcited earlier. From just two extra odds giveaways ending I had 18 pages to check, and was so overwhelmed that I had entirely given up on checking giveaways. Which of course was really disappointing.

My major suggestion for the future would be to say a little sooner what you're planning about something that's causing people as much frustration as manually checking giveaways was.

It might feel like a pointless post to say something like "We haven't fixed anything yet but we're working on it." But to the contrary, confirming that something causing a lot of frustrations is being looked into lets people know that the issue will at least be fixed.

For an example, if it had simply been said a few days ago that some way of not requiring manual checking was being looked into, my extreme frustration a few posts back wouldn't have happened.

Not knowing whether a problem is even going to be looked into or not can itself be a major cause of frustration. So don't underestimate how useful knowing that something is being looked into can be, even if there aren't any actual results to show yet. :)

Well, i can't find "check all" button :( Or did they remove it again?

"Check if you win" isn't that bad if you can only enter 4-5 giveaways per day, but with so many giveaways that cost only 1 point...
The other, ehem, giveaway website, have nailed it: per site alert and email if you want. And no need to keep that "unchecked giveaways database" anywhere.

It should be right above all the buttons to check individual giveaways.

Now that I think about it, Check All is very easy to miss. It looks almost exactly like all the menu text above the giveaways, and not at all like a button you can click. If you're glancing over the menu text and not actually reading it you would never know the Check All option is there.

It would be much more obvious if that was made to stand out more and look like an actual button.

Yay! And I won one, and your animation got a chuckle from me =)

I wasn't checking more than once a week with the old system.
