Hi silvarj, the secret game is different for everyone and in very particular cases it will happen that the same game will appear twice in a row.

I don't know how is the key assignment system, I assume it is random but maybe someone with more time here has better information.

By the way, here it explains how to know which game it's "the secret game" when it tells you that you already have it in the library (and Steam doesn't tell you, usually this happens with DLCs) or it's a duplicate.

It is random but divided into 3 tiers, each game won increases your chance of a higher tier reward while also increasing malus, first post here explains it nicely.

This steam account already owns the product(s) associated with this activation key.

I do recommend SteamDB extension to everyone who wants to know more about all those keys (and much more than that!), it's lightweight and very well maintained. If you activate through browser (here) you'll know which game it is even if it's already activated/owned.
