it seems that the blame falls on Fanatical.
It's the devs that invalidated the keys, and it's the devs that gave Fanatical the keys. What possible reason could they have for invalidating the keys now? Plenty of times devs have invalidated keys accidentally. They do it in batches, and some innocent people get caught up in it. It's not like they had to invalidate them, they chose to. This is 100% on the devs.

I got my key🔑(y), from one of your giveaways here:love:🎁 @WhatNitrous and it is still there in the library (Last time I checked today), and not installed on Pc.

On Steam, the date is 18 Jan, 2023.
Those GAs were before I started listing who got which key on my end to avoid duplicate requests as my GAs got really big

That would mean it was the December batch so I must have activated an older one considering I didn't purchase anymore between those times.

Interesting, I wonder if Fanatical actually got a batch of beta keys mixed in or during the first double pack they launched.

In any case i'm glad you didn't lose the game ;)
Yeah, looks like it's a 2022 thing.
We dodged a bullet, by the looks of it.
Some of us did

I agree here...but its an issue Fanatical should be involved in resolving with steam since they have proof the keys were put on the market as retail.

Every single copy of Valfaris I had was a Fanatical purchase, zero exceptions.

Yes, refunds are an option I'd be leaning towards. Then they could get the devs to compensate them. At least as a goodwill gesture. I have no idea what the terms of service are, you have to weigh the amount of money, versus potential loss of trust and business in future.

I only use Fanatical to get free stuff occasionally, so it doesn't directly involve me. I have contacted devs that accidentally invalidated keys in the past, and some did give me a new key. Others simply ignored me.

My issue here is the amount of keys purchased, I was doing massive GAs and thats one of the games I bought alot of at the time...my one copy isn't an issue...but when we start talking $20-$30 in invalid keys bought alongside more bundles probably in the range of $100 in purchases that had a key revoked a year later...if anything i'll have an issue with fanatical first and foremost, the dev i'd blacklist out of principal alone if they don't come to some form of resolution. Its just unacceptable from either end.

Things go wrong, thats fine. Not fixing the things that went wrong...thats not fine.

I paid, I expect what I paid for...this isn't a subscription with a deadline, or a freebie....this was a legit game I purchased.

Its worse than Ubisoft. And its an issue for everyone because if it slides once...it'll happen again.

I'm sure the TOS don't say we can revoke a key from one month and not the other at our discretion, and if they do...this is a war gamers need to wage on the terms allowed.

Its more the principal of it all than the lost keys.

I have bought AAA games from Fanatical for $40-$60...what if one of those went invalid while I was mid-game?

I actually bought Trails To Azure i'm playing right now there for $40. I'd lose my shit entirely if that game just disappeared right now.

It would probably say something along the lines of factors outside their control, like servers shutting down, or in this case, keys revoked by a third party.

Yes, they are the retailer. That would be your first point of contact. That's why I suggested refunds for those affected. They can only get replacement keys if the devs agree to give them. Refunding money is always possible.

Once again proves the fickle and uncertain nature of digital products instead of physicsl copies Unfortunately its the way of the world now and stricter rules for companies need to be put in place. Literally the exact opposite of Ubisofts stupid statement

Honestly I don't see Fanatical arguing about refunds for the game, depending how much it costs them...but I would much rather steam return the games to the rightful libraries automatically.

They had the list to revoke them with, they can reverse the process.

This is the biggest problem...if people get the game one way and money from the other it'll be a mess...so basically we're waiting for which form of resolution will be given...if any.

Or we're waiting for a dead dev and a dead market lmfao...because I'll never shop at fanatical again.

That may not seem like a big deal, but I've spent thousands there since I came here, legit.

I've spent more at fanatical than steam, humble, and keyshops combined.

So I am officially a father again for the fourth time as of yesterday! It was a boy (we didn't know beforehand) and the biggest baby so far at 10 pounds 1 ounce. Luckily I get 4 weeks paid leave, not that much compared to other countries, but it'll definitely make my wife's life easier for awhile.
Wow congrats bro and big respect for your power! Happy life to baby and good health to mother!

Kudos to the dev.

It just magically reappeared...a status update might be nice or a message from Steam considering they tell you it was removed, but at least its fixed.
I liked Valfaris. Fast paced, heavy metal Contra style! The save system has an interesting risk rewards tradeoff. The more save points you skip, the more powerful your weapons become. Controls are smooth and responsive. Some parts are a little weird. For example, the game throws a lot of cool looking weapons at you but most of them are functionally identical so there's no real reason to switch or try to unlock all of them except for the coolness factor. Also, there's a huge difficulty spike at the end. The final boss took me 20 tries 🥴

Really? WTF? Can you send them my way? 😆 I got 20 lousy ARP.

I'm trying to save up Dell dollars towards buying a RTX 4070 Super. The PNY one is $620. If I can save up $400 by January, I'm golden.

If I could, I would have been taking donations myself until yeaterday  i'm actually going to start saving for a fold up sim-racing seat if they have one next.

Someone just came in asking about how much could be applied and tested it. Its severely different in some areas so be sure to check your region specifics (I forget where your located off the top of my head)

I'd personally avoid a PNY and spring for the MSI before that, even though I hate MSI and its white 🤮 it would still likely be a better card if you can deal with the color...or color it becomes lmao.
