Unfortunally with localizations games where changed a little to adapt to them to the target market, on Nes they had to censor some game content to make it good for all ages. I can think about Maniac Mansion for Nes was heavily censorsed for its images and text The Expurgation of <i>Maniac Mansion</i> for the Nintendo Entertainment System

Jesus just figured out it was ice and played Houdini to feel like a god lmfao.

Worlds first fairy ice skating champion and magician.

Yeah, I see your point. I'm happy to go with an off-the-shelf solution like Playnite instead of reinventing the wheel. I don't have any super specific needs and my library isn't large enough to justify the effort of learning SQL/coding.

I agree that spreadsheets >> .txt files. At least they let you sort, filter, add notes in an organized way and copy/paste easily.
I use spreadsheets to store my extra keys and other random stuff.

Playnite is great, but I've talked about it before and I don't want to get on people's nerves by harping on it.
Just search for it via the Search button, top right. It gives:

Naw, it's for Windows. You can launch pretty much any game from your pc, see playtime, acheivements etc.... I used to love using it, alas I cannot anymore as I have switched to linux.

A worthy sacrifice.

Not Contra for NES, actually, EUROPEAN Contra for NES. Because killing people is bad and Konami changed people to robots (сhinese pirates thought to change Bill and Lance to Darkwing Duck(s) and sell Super C as Darkwing Duck 2, but that's another story). Just like they changed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because ninjas are evil and it might spoil kids.
excellent knowledge of the subject, as was expected from a person whose nickname is directly related to Konami's games^з^
it's a shame that we didn't get along... 🙃
Unfortunally with localizations games where changed a little to adapt to them to the target market, on Nes they had to censor some game content to make it good for all ages.
Changing futuristic setting of the original Contra into generic 1980's wasn't done for the game become rated E for everyone.
The same goes to the famicom cutscenes and changing the very nature of the central villain of the game.
US' localisation of Contra wasn't for censoring stuff, it was just a dumb decision that had some bad consequences down the line for the series((
I can tell everything about it (I'm a fan of Contra to the brain in my bones, as it's customary to say in my country), but only if you're interested in this kind of information:censored:
Naw, it's for Windows. You can launch pretty much any game from your pc, see playtime, acheivements etc....
Oh, thanks for the link^з^
Can you explain this to me?
as far as I remember, laws of German and a few other European countries were prohibiting to show violence directly related to people in games, therefore, for example, in the European version of Contra, two brave commandos were replaced with cool robots as well as all the enemies who even remotely resembled people - thus it turned out that in the game robots blow up other robots and aliens, no violence from people and over people.
The same goes to TMNT/TMHT, 'cause the word "ninja" had a bad rep in Europe and was tied to the violence itself, so the turtles became Heroes instead of Ninjas.
But not only Europe was censoring games from Japan. In the US almost every notion about christian religion was dummied out 'cause of censoring (I dunno why really), so all the jrpg's will have no churches for heroes resurrection and all the crosses was withdrawn right from the churches in Castlevania and Splatterhouse.
There's more, but I think now you're pretty much understand how/why it worked that way^^)

what's up with that? What is going on on this site? Who are all those people?

Not sure if it is OK for me to participate in a GA I helped sponsor? We never really discussed it... But RETRO is the judge in these GA. And I am intr. in what the forum thinks. And will of of'coz not ask for games I contributed anyway. Is it possible to ask for The Crypts of Anak Shaba and maybe a soundtrack?

EDIT: Curious as to what people would think is fair aswell here :)

EDIT2: See this post

Of course it's OK, RETRO is like the sweetest guy here, I don't even mind saying that and taking -3 points to "manliness" there's no way he'd refuse a regular who is as kind as you are (as long as they follow the 1 game per person rule) (y)
I've won Courage at givee.club
Also does anyone know who's this at Steam?

Maybe it's someone from this thread I mean, I dunno?

The over-the-top sounds he makes when the player takes damage :ROFLMAO:
You can hear it in the trailer on the Store Page, it sounds like he's dying.

...trust level of negative NaN (not a number, too large) lmao.
Oh, so that's what NaN stands for! I've seen this a lot on the internet (video timestamps), it always makes me think "what?". In Japanese "what" is nan or nani and both of those result in the same Kanji 何 :ROFLMAO:

何やってんだよ。

I need to give a big thank you to @LuckyStreak1305 for three Star Wars games from the HB Bundle that I mentioned I was going to miss due to a lack of funds.

Love meown little 😻 so much.

You 🥁 luck. Thank you!
A local friend gave me KotOR and Jedi Academy from this bundle saying he was very surprised that I only had one Star Wars game on my profile until today (and it was a gift to me in this lair, yay!). The thing is, back in the old days, (before the dark times, before the Empire), I was a die hard star wars fan.
The next wall of text will be the cry of the soul, sorry.
I played all the games, read absolutely all the comics, I bothered to buy all the omnibuses from Dark Horse on Amazon (I wish something very bad for their packaging team), almost all the books (except for the children's ones), joined comics scanning groups, started to scanlating them, I never sat idle for a second. But Disney came, killed all the good things and started making some incomprehensible abomination, and I tried to somehow accept all this new stuff for several years, but it turned out very badly. Yes, people who actually know what they are doing are starting to pull the franchise out of the abyss lately, but it's fallen too low... But i'm not talking about that, i got these games and was terribly disappointed with the state they're in. I can understand that the games themselves are already as they are, but at least something minimal could be done with them for today's users - at least some achievements should be attached to them, and some minimal updates should be made... KotOR feels great on mobile platforms, and there are achievements, for JA there are also achievements on PS4, but for some reason it is very difficult to implement them on the native platform? Racer and Republic Commando were updated for Switch, and on PC it is some kind of abandonware rather than something that can be sold to people for money... Does Disney have so little money to do such a minimum? So they would be distributed to those who could? I just finished Full Throttle Remastered (which used to belong to LucasArts), and it's a beautiful and elegant approach to the game, it doesn't look (almost) 30 years old at all, there's a new mode, and the old one is not going anywhere, and it's running at new OSes without problems, and achievements is here too - you see what people did with all their heart and try to leave this impression forever...
