They are "usually" self-contained, but like Final Fantasy they throw tribute to past games with minor references and such about old MCs or story bits, nothing that will ruin either game if you play them out of order, I assume thats what your asking.

I started in the wrong order myself, P3 and Digital Devil Saga got me into the series mainly, then I played alot of the entire series like shin-mega tensai and devil summoner and went to P4 I believe after P2 heh.

So the order won't matter much, the others like Digital Devil Saga sometimes continue in story but still make it playable in any order.

If you decide to play the others after, you'll catch the references if your paying attention, but its the least connected of all the games in the series as far as plot or characters, except one or two thats like Cid in FF, just always there

I see! I've played Catherine. I read that it was referenced in a Persona game. I'm playing through the Yakuza series now. The bundle is on sale on Steam and I had to complete my collection of Yakuza 0-6

In defense of ctpax, he offers many games from Feudalife and of high art in a genre on Steam where games show a complete lack of basic figure drawing skills and 2D design knowledge. Steam keeps on offering me games in this genre and they aren't enticing at all.

Everyone who only had Doom 3 got the BFG Edition, everyone who had the original Doom got Ultimate for it, everyone who only had some expansion for Doom 2 got the game itself as well. if you haven't received it, you only need to launch the game once, and everything will appear in the library.

if you haven't received it, you only need to launch the game once, and everything will appear in the library.

Just adding everything to the library and playing games are slightly different things. Now anyone can still get the keys for any old versions of Doom and its level packs and activate them (same for Quake), but when you launch that game/add-on once you will get all the other add-ons (and the main game, if it wasn't in the library). Not as separate Steam entries, all in one.
