GAMERS LAIR

Thats the one genre we are completely different about, I like vampires, cults, all that interesting stuff for the usual background story and lore that comes with it...and franky VtM just looks fun, idk how I overlooked it for so long considering it was popular enough for even me to know about it before the lair...althoigh in truth I always though it was Vim since I never had any interest.

Horror games in general, not my thing anymore.
I mean, horror is just a story genre. If we're talking about gameplay, Suffering is 3rd person action game (melee and guns). The story is interesting enough or else I wouldn't play it because a good story is one of the most important things to me in any game.

I fell in love with VtM the very first time I encountered it - tabletop, PC RPGs, visual novels... Everything was (and still is) so rich in lore and quite original lore-wise. The idea that vampiric cabals rule the world and that they wage war against each other while awaiting the Gehenna (vampiric version of the Apocalypse), the deep mythology behind their origins and how clans got to be...

And then 2 video games based on the concept that absolutely blew my mind - Redemption, where you're playing as one of the famous characters from VtM lore, from the Middle Ages all through the Modern Nights... And then Bloodlines, where you're a neonate who doesn't know anything about the world he has just entered...

Yeah, I'm an incorrigible fanboy...🤓

Funny you'd bring that up now

I completely understand too...you've likely stumbled across a book series called Dragonlance, I had the same love for that, its one of the only series i've read every book I was able to find in...and the only one that I stole books to read lol. Unfortunately it never truly made it in the gaming world...I think there was one old game based on it and a few whose lore may be involved, but nothing remotely close to what I would want to actually see them do or I would have picked it up almost immediately, I feel the same way about the Han Dynasty era in china and Destiny of an emperor, grabbing every game claiming to be anything like them and being sadly disappointed in each and every one heh. I guess I had a poor choice in history and fantasy I was hoping to see 🤷‍♂️ ironocally the Han Dynasty love came from a game...one that just never got the attention it should have and died out.

Yeah, I know about Dragonlance. I like fantasy settings but there are only a handful of RPGs set in modern days.
I'm not surprised about Gehenna's reference. All games like to incorporate our existing mythologies and religions into their lore.
And I think the Han dynasty was in China, not Japan?

Ya, JRPG on screen and talking about a Nintendo game obsession  correcting it.

No doubt there, this is actually one of them...although the world isnt our world.

They actually have an orbal network in thetestingg phase in this game too in contrast with how the internet was evolving at the time...but nothing like VtM seems to be.

I liked Dragonlance because it twisted the lore we knew, one of my favorite "heroes" in the series was Kaz the minotaur...it was actually his self titled book that dragged me in...as well as Raistlin Majere, the weak sickly mage who turns evil heh.

There haven't been any recent Dragonlance games as far as I know, but a long while back there were multiple games from SSI based on it. There was a trilogy of "Gold Box" turn-based RPGs: Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn, and Dark Queen of Krynn, and an isometric RPG called Shadow Sorcerer. There were a couple of action games (Heroes of the Lance, Dragons of Flame), a strategy game called War of the Lance, and even a dragonflight simulator called DragonStrike.

As it turns out they're available on GOG: Dungeons and Dragons: Krynn Series , Silver Box Classics , DragonStrike

There all available on Steam too, HL right now at that...unfortunately bad timing for me cash wise so they'll have to wait for another time. Those were the older ones I was talking about, I didnt know they hit modern launchers though...thanks for the heads up.

I've played a couple of the silver box classics.
