you're contradicting yourself...the plot is thin but there is..."go there to there" until you solve the mystery, and you must explore the map to achieve this.
Reviewers have judged the quality of an open world based on whether there are interesting ways for the player to interact with the broader level when they ignore their main objective
In this game you can: 1. walk. 2. read notes. So even judging by your link, this is a very, very, very bad open-world :)
you're contradicting yourself...
No. Precisely because the gameplay of this "open-world" is a completely different... game concept 🤔
...is an adventure game that consists primarily of movement and environmental interaction.Walking sims generally do not have combat mechanics, traditional win/lose scenarios, and sometimes include puzzle elements.
many games are like that
Yes, but for this they do not need to take real events and mix them with flying saucers and secret experiments.

In a general sense, the open world offers many activities and (as far as possible) does not limit the player in the sequence of actions and opportunities to perform these activities. if all you have to do is walk and read, then it's not much activity, it's just a slightly non-linear walking simulator. For example, this is an open world: A Short Hike on Steam and this is not: Gone Home on Steam but in Steam games has both tags. You just don't need to pay attention to all kinds of fools.

Theres a certain sense of iirony in the fact that we don't get along lmao.

I butt into this conversation foolishly, well aware this was coming to pass...so don't mind me if I just butt out now, it has nothing to do with me and its a trivial matter about definitions I have no interest in.

Why interfering? No, there is a certain sense in hearing many different opinions in order to form own opinion.
I would say more, here I would also listen to the author of the original question, what exactly he meant by open-world games (I am already silent about the moment that everyone in this topic for some reason had to know what games he had already played in order to advise something new. But so it goes).

It would have been a different scenario if my timing were different, thats all...it has nothing to do with my comment interfering or me feeling the need to hold my tongue and not share my opinion--everyone knows me better than that ever realistically happening

I mean if we're going to go into the authors post not getting questions before answers then we should go into the fact that it was a monumentally vague post as far as asking for opinions in the first place. You get what you give (or what you ask for)...and so they did heh.

You know the drill: if you're not humans but infiltrated aliens instead, waiting on an all-alien revolution when we'll conquer the Earth, confirm your identity with

We'll take the world on Wednesday.
