Its a book brother, with sex, it does have a crowd of its own I admit...more like a cult actually, if you saw the amount of people engaged in this area you would be shocked (probably a bit disturbed too--i'm not even remotely passionate or twisted in comparison), i've seen some of the most creative things...ever...in a moddable japanese game called Honey Select, programming and art...you can say what you will about the depravity aspect but therr is some fucking devotion and skill among the crowd the likes of which i've never seen done before without getting paid.

As for OUR particular game, its really more story based, there are some thats pure smut, some that even disgusts me, some that are great in both areas...depends on the devs motives, money or just wanting to make a game or write a story with pictures.

We may both have no shame about it, but I can assure you ivo wants to write a story...I mighta went a different way

He learned to use DAZ just to write that video game book...and its why I was willing to support it 100% before I was even on board with him and started making him a free interface...its his dream to make a book and game combined...the sex is almost needed for the genre to succeed or he may not have even included it unless it was just needed for the story. That I couldnt say...but there are VNs without any sexual scenes at all, so I think your mistaking the genre because of us always busting chops about smut. They are kindle books with pictures for PC basically, some erotic, others not even slightly.

I just wanted to clarify that part...if you like books you may be missing out by thinking VN means porn, legit dude.
One important thing: they're Choose Your Own Adventure type of books. You have choices and, through those choices, you're influencing the story - that's why I also love Choice of Games and Hosted Games on Steam.

Of course, those choices could be irrelevant or not, depending on how good or bad the author is. Some VNs are Kinetic novels, so there are no choices at all.
yeah that's i don't understand :ROFLMAO:
i know there's a massive player base (sakura fans just for mentioning) but for me it's like a zelda game wirhout travel, fights and cutscenes, mostly japanese in the very first start i believe : dating sim ?
where does it start ? gba ? nds ?
They started with DOS. I mentioned recently the Season of Sakura. It's one of the old dating sims. In fact, our game is, among other things, influenced by my favourite adult visual novel - Divi Dead.
They started in the '80s.
Yep. They're basically just a digital version of what we already had in literature - Choose Your Own Adventure books.
The first real VN I "played" if you can even call it that, was some Japanese thing that had a ton of text, and almost no gameplay. I was expecting more dialog choices, or schedule planning like Princess Maker, but it was basically just a wall of scrolling text, followed by more scrolling text. I get that it had some still pics, that had some minor animated parts, but I'd rather just read a book if it came to that.
Japanese VNs are known for 2 things - recycling backgrounds and scenes over and over throughout the game and very few choices. Song of Saya - great horror AVN but NOT for average players - has 2 or 3 choices in the whole game (based on the path). Divi Dead was notorious for not being able to find all the endings without a walkthrough and I can tell you - finding walkthroughs in the early 2000s on the internet wasn't an easy thing.

You hit a bad one then...although theres no major gameplay in ours (which is why I wanted to add CastleVaginia as a mini game) this time around, alot of them these days have added money, love points for choices, free roaming the maps in 3rd person by arrows, hell some have even mixed in full out RPG elements and such.
When it comes to indie VN devs, in 90% of the games that means: "I'm a scammer who wants your money and I don't feel like investing much work and time in this."

Making a VN demands much more work than making a sandbox/free-roam visual novel. I saw way too many good devs that created a decent VN and then as their second game picked a sandbox project - basically milking their patrons for one meagre update per year or even less.

I'm not arguing with that...I wanted to add some fighting (cough) options maybe, a video game 'they' played if I could. I don't like the map hopping garbage myself...but alas we're not everyone...and he specifically said that he wanted more gameplay and things to do, I already told you I'm with you on that...my programmer might itch for some complex code but my gamer wouldn't wanna play it either :ROFLMAO:

Doesn't mean he wouldn't, I mean ausf is a weird one in general, so who knows

And any VN that incorporates money (not dik style) is a grind...if they didn't add cheats from the start I won't even touch it...if they do its still iffy heh. And usually a lazy cash grab tactic. not always, but usually.

Go to work, go to sleep. When theres no choice or purpose in the story that shit has no purpose. Nothing more irritating than that
