I'm no King aka Nitrous but this is just my input on the matter.![]()
I like to run this once in awhile personally and always keep it installed, but thats just me.3D Mark is a probably waste of money unless you a hardware reviewer or a professional overclocker, once you run it a few times you will uninstall it forget about.
I would still suggest 3DMark over Superposition (even the demo)If you wish to check how your new PC is performing you can use:
Cinebench (to check your CPU)
Cinebench R23
Unigine Ssuperposition (to check your GPU)
UNIGINE Benchmarks
Both are free.
EXTRA:
Your CPU should score a bit over 2000 points in a single core test and 37 000 in multi core test if everything is performing as it should.
When running Unigine Ssuperposition choose the highest settings and set resolution to 720p to test you CPU's max framerate and set than resolution to your native or 4K to see what you graphics can achieve.
I also suggest for a realistic benchmark using superposition that you set it to 1080 extreme rather than 4K as 4K tends to drag horribly even on top level cards (especially if you even attempt extreme)...I honestly think 3DMark does a pretty good job for a CPU test using Time Spy Extreme and a better job using Port Royale for a GPU test, Firestrike being the happy medium for an all around test....although Cinebench is preferred for a general CPU test (I honestly just crank up my cores with CPU-Z for my processor which came with my MSI software) and if I really want to dignose my GPU for issues alternatively I use GPU-Z for that...but both takes knowledge of the readings to understand them.
Either way I think you can get a realistic enough reading from 3DMark (theres also PCMark--but skip it) and I certainly don't suggest superposition as its went over my 100% voltage of my GPU and set off error alerts for one...and it gives you even less information for test results in general than 3DMark for another. Cinebench I got no arguments about honestly, but for GPU I still suggest 3DMark and for one all arounder its the best bet as well

Superposition WAS good, its outdated now. Been years since an update.
In RETROs case I say leave it all well enough alone and if your rigs running games good...then your good. No more information needed.
