It's not as good as it used to be, and I think it went downhill after they acquired AdwCleaner, which was really good back in the day. Or that's what I feel after using it again after so many years.
I think it has been ages since they acquired AdwCleaner... the drop in quality I experience with them was a couple of months ago on a free try where, by their own words, they implemented an detection model based on AI... that just gave a bunch of falses positives and reminded me of Avira and macfee in terms of annoyance ...
Yet, compared to other antivirus programs I know, probably Malwarebytes is still the best of them
sadly I also think its true...

I also use SUPERantiSpyware, AVG and run AdwCleaner every cople of months ... and trust none of them :ROFLMAO:

I was making one before that would have been more of a watch your system style for malicious changes that probably would have put most general AV scanners out of business...but it was only Windows based and Win 11 mucked it all up...so I just kept the concept in mind for when I actually found a better way to do it.

I trust them to tell me where to check myself...sometimes

Its better than false positives, which I never get unless I put it on maximum lockdown (like preventing brute force attacks), then it flags some normal sites as trying but it still doesn't effect my usage of them (and who knows--maybe they are accessing stuff they shouldn't technically be to make their site work better?)

It HAS saved me from accidental clicks opening phishing links and the same when i'm knowingly going stupid places...not like I would have clicked them in the first place or fell for it, but its a nice extra layer of security on top of conmon sense I like having there...especially on touch screen, I do kick for it once a year spending like $20 for 3 devices (one being for my ex whos not nearly as savvy as me--this habit started after her card got hit for $1,000 holiday shopping)

Its the only AV I find worth anything, and I get it more for her than myself since she's always helping me out and neither of us needs the stress.

You can live without, but of your going to get any of them...it might as well be malwarebytes.

I see those detection reports as a 'you need us advertisement' and ignore them entirely
Yeah, I agree with you. The best advice is never to save information such as card details/bank details, or anything that may cause problems.

Even as basic as a name, I name my computer = PC :ROFLMAO:

And always use 2FA if you can use it on any app/email.

Yeah, it's from 2016. AdwCleaner was so good back in the days, such a shame they sold it, I remember using it on friends' computers to help.

And yeah, that sounds really bad

I always name my computer and domain name funny with the first name being real and the domain being like a Simpsons joke since both are required to access it externally.

Jack\MeCock
She\Cockski
Robin\Cradles
Ben\Dover
Mi\Wang

The list goes on :ROFLMAO: I've forgotten more good ones than moat people will ever think of i've been doing it for so many years.

Even if they access my PC, its gotta be a trip signing into Mi Wang everyday

Yeah play store too, they probably do this also because they know gta vi will be available next year and many users don't own a console and probably a lot will buy one just to play the game. They are trying to capitalize a good release.
There is no master plan behind this whatsoever, we did it because we can, tough shit, xbox players will remain xbox players and eat it. End of story.

If there was any intelligent thought behind it, it went like this...

Nintendo did it, so why can't we? 🤪
