what happens if you do a giveaway for a key that turns out to be already used? You get negative feedback, but can you get banned (with more than 1 i mean)?
While support says that
"After 3 negative feedbacks your profile will be banned"(direct quote from my exchange with Paula back in July), we regularly see giveaway creators with over a dozen and they seem to be doing fine, so who knows if they really enforce that. I personally must've gotten up to 3 at some point or maybe even 4.
for some games i have replacements, so one of them should work if the winner tells me to change it, but for others i have just one.
That's kind of the approach I use: get a comfortable replacement buffer for a game and start giving away. So far it works reasonably well and I manage to maintain a neat -0. Of course
duplicate keys MASTERPOST thread is quite useful, and I'd also recommend keeping an eye on profile posts section - sometimes you see people trying to contact giveaway creators there.
If you do get a negative feedback and want to fix it - good luck! Keep in mind, you'll probably have to chase and stalk some people and most of your winners never use the forum.
You can get guys like my first negative feedback giver, whom I only found
after several months, who just accepted my friend invite and asked what I wanted, and was quite surprised I think, when I explained and gave him a replacement key. And then you have people like another winner of mine, who blocked me on Steam instead of accepting a friend invite, never used the forums so profile posts and PMs were useless, but several weeks later I found them on sg and contacted them there just fine. Some people are genuinely paranoid about Steam friend invites it seems.
I think if you keep the % amount of positive feedback at a reasonable level, you won't get banned.
I swear there used to be something in Help section that basically said that it doesn't matter how good you were before - the moment you get enough negative feedback you're banned.
But I can't seem to find it now. Maybe they removed it because even back then they couldn't or wouldn't enforce it?
just saw someone with 17 negative feedback (and hundreds of positive).
On the other hand there's someone with -17 and over 50 "Expired" giveaways filling up the section. Though perhaps nothing happened to them and it's just a glitch because they spammed to many giveaways at the same time?
Who knows? Perhaps admins? Definitely not us.
