Now King Thistle tells me I don't have enough Galacredit to play, but the game is played with Galasilver, which I have plenty of??!

The challenge is offline at the moment and can't be played, that's why you get the error message, which mistakenly mentions credits instead of silver. It always has... they'll probably never fix it.
To check if the challenge is on, you need to click the big green button on the main page which will lead you to the page that shows the game's status. It's usually open around midday GMT, but nobody knows for sure, it's fairly random.

On vacation, took with myself an old notebook. Challenges don't seem to lag that much but controls are terrible. Slightest push of a button makes the reticle jump two tiles. It will be a challenge to win any keys at all. Weirdest is the archer challenge where only 5 archers show up in 60 seconds.

Oh yeah, archers get weird. Someone mentioned not so long ago that archers were running a bit slower for them compared to our guy, which allowed them to consistently reach and hit archers before they could start attacking, so I decided to see for myself. The results look close to what you're describing - in standard mode mode they spawn every 10 (-ish) seconds instead of normal spawn rate of every 5 seconds, so I only got 6 archers in 56 seconds:

Switching to fullscreen is even more ridiculous - only two showed up!

I looked at my CPU load while playing and in Firefox it gets to 25-30% during play, in Chrome it's at 70-80% both in fullscreen and standard modes.

PS Can anyone recommend me some browser java games to test? I haven't noticed anything except for indiegala's games (though headhunter isn't affected nearly as much) having such a performance difference between Firefox and Chrome, but I don't really play anything else in browser, so maybe I just don't encounter these things?

That was also me when I stayed at my MIL and played the challenges on her laptop. I'll try to replicate that when I'm visiting again.

That level of input delay especially for video 2.. Omg.. When I hit video 1's level of lag I stop playing for a couple hours and thereafter when things improve some for me I continue playing

Apps like Soundhound, Shazam or music search in Google app - all easily identify this song.

While the famerate is quite noticeably low even in the first video, I didn't really feel any serious input lag. There may have been a little bit of lag there, but I think I would've completed that challenge just fine, if the archers spawned at a proper rate. Now the second video felt just as awful and unresponsive to play as it looks.

While music search app sometimes doesn't even properly identify songs I hoped it would I am surprised it managed to find a song that is not belonging to mainsteam 🤣

I never tried playing on full screen and seeing that second video I doubt I would be adventurous enough to try. 😂

Now at home (PC, Firefox) my speed improved noticeably in several challenges. Even in sickling but that one is still too laggy to be winnable.

Well, seems like playing in fullscreen mode has a big downside to it then.
