sure, i think it"s a seagate barracuda 2go, probably fragmented, i thought windows had a automasheduled defragmentation routine these days
They do, but multiple programs can override it...I actually just checked mine since I keep it disabled and noticed wierd command line options so I ran it in DOS myself and its now Defragmenting my SSD due to "choosing" the best optimization for each media type incorrectly  where it should have done a trim operation.

The command line arguments now are - c -h -o -$ -o never existed before, says it chooses the type.
-$ has no explanation at all.

I'm guessing -$ runs all operations even though -o should choose one specific type, idfk what they did tbh :ROFLMAO:

The string is the argument, that was my first thought...which is ironic because it still ran in DOS for me  and there is no argument sent to it so idk if it even runs at all heh.

My suggestion...either put this in a batch file (.bat) so you can right click it and run as administrator or type it in the administrator command prompt yourself for an HDD...and go to bed

Code:
Defrag /D /T /U /V /H
Defrag /X /T /U /V /H
Defrag /B /T /U /V /H

I suggest a batch file since Windows screwed up the command line and you can't run all the optimization at once anymore, /D and /X used to work together, they don't now. /b is new as well and I'm not running an HDD with Windows on it right this second to test if its for normal drives, but it fails on an SSD so it likely is.

These three need to be separate now

/D (defrag)
/X (Consolidate Free Space)
/B (Boot Optimization)

These are the other options.

/T (Track progress)
/U (Print progress)
/V (Verbose--more details)
/H (Normal priority--faster, still slow as fuck lol)

If your use Windows, expect a long wait--which is why even if it is automatic, its probably not EVER finishing the process and then when you add files or move them it likely starts over heh.

Better yet go download a good defrag tool, Windows fucked it all up and thats going to break most generic defrag programs since all they did was call the command line version

Auslogics Disk Defrag used to be extremely good and didn't invoke the command line tool for a fact since it had functionality that wasn't possible using defrag.exe but I haven't used it in a long time...I'm about too now haha.

EDIT:

Auslogics = Adware Now.

my download bandwidth is under 1mo/s 🤦‍♂️
Your saying Mo in a french terminology correct? Megaoctet? At first I thought it was a typo

But ya, theres your issue lol.
on the desktop ? that's probably the exact number, i'm curently working on it
The systray and browser add-ons, as well as the apps that load on startup would be more of a concern...but your desktop icons (as well as start menu) will cause alot of lag and use up graphic resources, even my fucking PC doesn't like how windows draws them lol.

Everytime it refreshes, it draws those icons and everytime you open the start menu its created dynamically (or additions are checked for), so those two things are actually way worse than most people ever think. A background image over the icons just adds to the fact heh.

I can tell you this...the command freezes even on my SSD while i'm online. I wouldn't trust automatic defragment lol.

Alienwarearena 3 fancy games giveaways for fat members lvl4+ only ! 2K keys!
wow thanks BadRatsy! I can't believe 3 games all at once, and good ones too. I like Mythforces, it has great graphic art like 80s -90s cartoon as He-Man and the Master of the universe!

I never even heard of this :ROFLMAO:

I was stuck on Destiny Of An Emperor for almost 5 fucking years until I found a little snippet IN Nintendo Power way later

"Do you wake Zhuge Liang"

I tried everything...everything except not pressing a fucking button, ADHD didn't sit well with that moment :ROFLMAO:

I was so fucking pissed when I read the stupidity of what you had to do....absolutely nothing. Literally. Even touching the d-pad after selecting wait would fuck you.

ANYWAYS 🤬

So if it was an American thing, it wasn't very well known since my parents had money when I was a kid ad I still never knew about this at all. They're the type that would have had me call all the time to make me bother someone else

I'd b e calling Matt or Ben n' Jerry

Crystalis was another good game.

Destiny if an Emperor was truly unique in the way your party was formed, I think Suikoden I and II is the closest as far as somewhat modern games are concerned ad I loved that series too. It was my all time favorite NES game, even during the torment I played up to the point I could reach multiple times and tried over and over again.

I've still ever found Lu Bu's Horse and no guide to this day I've found has a location.

Tu Ma Chi or some shit was the horses name...idk what you would even do with a horse since it was the only one mentioned as obtainable in the entire game...and I honestly don't think it was.
I remember Crystalis but I didn't own it, I should play it, looks like a game I would enjoy!
today is "suck day" the great montly WINDOWS update by MICROSOFT
now i'm starting to understand why i'm struggling whith those updates since 3y approx

everything is updating at the same moment !!!
windows, windows defender, edge, onedrive...even chrome itselft, while nvidia crash telemetry is launching , sooner or later acrobat reader will try to do the same 🤦‍♂️

considering that my device is 7y old and run W10 on a HDD (mechanical), it's a pure pain
can't even play music with foobar without interruption !!!

(it is old but i'm still able to run most games i want to play)

i know that W11 is tailored for SSD and i'm suspecting MS to intentionaly make life impossible
for W10 users with HDD by not optimising their updates:mad:

FU MICROSOFT 🍌🍐🍆🥒
i'm sure it's related to my processing power and disk usage
-while updating my disk usage is always at 100%
-i don't have hyper threading on my processor
- multiples windows services updating and installing in the same time

during those updates i can barely use the computer, most action leads to temporary freezes

i bought recently a tiny/mini pc for cheap, just for surfing/mailing/managing personal stuff,
with WIN10, it has a SSD and i don't have any update problem
ACER - WIN10
intel i5 6300hq (q3 2015)
hdd run at 5400rpm, sata 600
6 MB Intel® Smart Cache
8 go ddr4 single 2133I
I know how do you fell. I had similar situation with my laptop (I5 Acer too), Windows became pretty unstable and really slow unti the hdd broke completely, I upgraded my laptop (thanks again WhatNitrous for your patience, suggestions and help:love:) with ssd dedicated only for Win10, added 16gb ram, and replaced old hdd with a faster 7200 rpm instead of 5400. After the upgrade and fresh Win install, Win10 boots in few seconds and I don't even notice when it does updates. So it makes a huge difference just upgrading to Sdd.

It was very satisfying to watch those randomly placed squares to be arranged in an order on my oldest laptop.

I had an Acer Aspire 6930g before my current laptop. After using it like 10 years I discovered that it had an empty SATA slot and got an SSD for it and Windows became super fast compared to HDD. Even though it is a 15 year old laptop, I can still use it without getting annoyed.

Popped up as being flagged as a PUP by 5 different Anti virus (potentially unwanted program) due to a common adware during installation, it was the first thing on the side of a google search for it (on PC this time) but I can't say for certain honestly, since I'm a DOS user anyways the changes don't bother me so much as I figure they would most people.

I know your not PC illiterate yourself, I honestly thought you would have taken the DOS route heh.

If you already installed it, might as well use it 🤷‍♂️ if your concerned about the adware a few free scans will likely remove it if uninstalling it doesn't work...its a common one if it is there and its not gonna destroy your PC or anything.

got an other acer but i don't remember when i bought, a core 2 duo, still working but painfully cause it only have 4go ram and a HDD
i upgraded it from win7 to win10, based on the recommandation by MS(tupid) just instantly regreted it...
MS assured that we can revert to WIN7 during one month, this was not possible in my case, and i(m sure i'm not alone

so i found myself stuck with w10 cause i didn't want to re-install all my work softwares/data

We both know you didn't really need much help...but no problem regardless.

I'm not saying an SSD isn't a good option, I'm just saying the HDD shouldn't have been a complete Windows Killer, even with the processor taken into account.

Maybe you should run a few scans anyways @syleox

I really do like that program...especially since I was making one myself and I know just how complicated it actually is compared to how it actually seems when you do it low-level and don't use the built in functions from Windows that basically call the DOS command

The option to move your files to the beginning of the disk (or end) for faster access is something you can't have windows defrag do, its "Optimization" simply groups as much free space between files as it can without moving them around the drive to give you a nice big block of space. Its really useful when shrinking your partition to make a backup and things of that sort.
