Epic Conquest 2 (F2P) - 850MB
store.steampowered.com
I've had this game for awhile and never posted it here for some reason, maybe thinking it was a demo for some reason...it was one of few F2P games I found good enough to keep in my library.
I'm a little fuzzy on the story aspects, which is probably good for spoiler sake since its probably a pretty short game...I wouldn't know, I spent most of my time grinding and didn't even mind because the combat it fun (and frankly you'll get slaughtered exploring fully if you don't)...my best comparison to this game would be a more modern Zelda title or maybe Secret Of Mana, it fits into a few categories as the description says itself with a twist.
Your a female warrior trying to join the fighting ranks in your town (I believe your denied for some reason I can't remember) and asked to prove your worth...so you set out to help the locals with minor quests and such exploring the land outside of town, gathering resources, crafting...and if you go to far (like me), getting your ass handed to you if you didn't level up a good amount a few mere screens away.
Rather than it being a bad thing, if your one of those people (like me) who NEEDS to know if there is a chest you might be missing with some uber powered gear or something of the sort it kind of urges you to get stronger before carrying on...which is why I never actually finished this one, I'm still bent on getting everything
You have a nasty little sword combo and a few skills at the start of which you gain more as you level up and can assign to all four top buttons, while your dodge, attack, inspect, etc. are mapped to the normal buttons.
The game has all the qualities of a AAA title in it...damn grind I buried myself in aside I still enjoyed even that, which speaks volumes for the quality of this game even in the worst moments.
Enemies are on the map clear as day and you will want to figure out the patterns to avoid an arrow coming from off screen by the patterns etc early on...once you level up the first screens won't matter much, but a sub boss you run into might heh.
I just wanted to give a general idea of this games mechanics enough to say its worth checking out the store page and adding this into a category aside from the free game swamp we all likely have, its truly a gem in that sense.
My only question is what happened to first game?

An Action RPG inspired by the classics, with special touch in the game mechanics and anime-style story telling!
