I'd probably have failed even harder on today's round if I hadn't had chosen to alphabetize my notes...

That's a very neat list!
I put some extra info in mine, (names of all the winners for stuff like sound editing and cinematography etc) but completely forgot to sort the list, so I nearly failed #4 because supporting actress somehow ended up in the middle of my list while supporting actor was at the bottom.

I made two alphabetical lists... One for the achievements and one for the film names. Just in case...

Mine was disorganised - just copied them in order they were in the article on cnet...
As a result I was winging it pretty much - thanks to a good visual memory and re-reading it several times in the last 5 minutes before the quiz.
But it almost cost me #10... Saved by a miracle. :)

My source: https://www.cnet.com/news/oscars-2020-winners-the-full-list-of-results/
Tried spacing the customized list with a dotted line between each entry, for easier reading, but it grew too high and went offscreen for me.
I guess I could've used a spreadsheet to add alternating background-colors for the lines, but that'd require an extra browser-window...

This quiz reminded me about tests in the college back in the days and how almost everybody would be "getting ready" for them - in the last day or even a couple of hours... And most students will forget 99% of what they read after passing those tests...
And usually that 1 % that sticks is the ones you get wrong. Learned for exam, but scarred for life 🤪

Out of all the things you were "forced" to "learn" back in school (from elementary to high school, and possibly beyond), how much do you actually remember?
Sure, the concepts of math and how to properly use grammar is hard coded into your brain now, but geography, history, the difference between various forms of literature.... That's all gone.
I mean... What's the point of learning in what century some random person discovered a random place/thing, and when are you gonna find a use for that knowledge?
Never have I found any situation where remembering how 'Napoleon defeated Mao Zedong at the borders between Timbuktu and Brazil by firing forks out of a slingshot' was of any use to me. Such a waste of brain-space...

Scarred for life sounds about right. I still remember from last year how I didn't know what color bowtie Cat in Hat wears, so I raced to Google and only managed to press the right answer at the last second (Red by the way, it's red) and immediately got a visual glitch
On the other hand searching for the largest deer taught me about pudu and mouse deer, who are unfairly adorable:

Well, maybe that's the reason kids are forced to learn all that in school just so they remember at least something...
For example, geography: someone asks me where I'm from and I say "Ukraine" (because that's where I came from to US, even though I was born in Russia). Then that person gets a blank look in their eyes and after a few seconds asks "Is it in South America?"
I mean... what the heck really? And it was less than a year ago...
Also - I like to impress my kids with my vast (if a bit shallow) knowledge of different topics.

The font/character rasterization in Headhunter really needs to be addressed. In addition to the criminally similar looking glyphs (cases like S/3, 8/6/3 and perhaps others), there is some freak kerning occurrences where there should be none at all (screenshot taken in an up-to-date Chromium-based browser, magnified 2x):
