One question short of a win, but still don't feel too miffed for mucking up this one - in the absense of hints the DotA question was a sucker punch, and I have so far successfully stayed away from this insidious game that makes formerly well-adjusted individuals yell obscenities, grow to hate the other players and ultimately come to despise themselves in the long run (for not being skilled enough or maintaining a good enough rank).
My son plays Dota 2... And yes, his use of the F-word is... I'd say excessive, when he's in-game. Otherwise he's still normal young adult (he's 19).
I guess it's too late to put my foot down on that (and gaming in general) and I only have to pray to whatever deities there are (or Johnny Depp) that he will be spared this downward spiral...
BTW, there's a story related to this:
We are a bilingual family, and my kids speak Russian (one better than other) and sure they know swear words too (after all, there's youtube and Russian players... but my kids also understand the meaning of those). But the language of choice for them is still English.
So - one day my kid is playing online match and sure he is loud and of course I hear "F" every few seconds. When there's a pause I tell him "You know, there are other languages and there are way more words you can use to express yourself then just this one". And his response was - "So you ALLOW me to swear in Russian???!!!"
He was around 16 back then.
