pre-quiz notes on H9
TTRM's notes said:
"Godspeed Spider-Man" = quote from "Spider-Man" (2002)
Spoken by Norman Osborn (Green Goblin) (portrayed by Willem Dafoe)
Son of Norman Osborn Harry Osborn (portrayed by James Franco)

Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborne
James Franco as Harry Osborn

None of the above seems to have any notable connection to Martin Scorsese
The only relation between any of the actors and Martin Scorsese is that of Willem Dafoe

Willem Dafoe starred in:
"The Last Temptation of Christ" (1988) (Willem Dafoe as Jesus)
"The Aviator" (2004) (Willem Dafoe as Roland Sweet)

James Franco has starred in NO MOVIES directly related to Martin Scorsese

For his advocacy in film restoration he received the Robert Osborne Award at the 2018 TCM Film Festival.
The award was given to Scorsese as "an individual who has significantly contributed to preserving the cultural heritage of classic films".

Realization after stepping away for a while:
TTRM's notes said:
Harry Northup (Hint says "son of......". Norman Osborn uttered the quote, and his son is Harry.)
"As an actor, he made frequent appearances in the films of Martin Scorsese and Jonathan Demme."

STARRED IN SCORSESE'S SIX (6) FIRST MOVIES
1967 Who's That Knocking at My Door The Rapist
1972 Boxcar Bertha Deputy Sheriff Harvey Hall
1973 Mean Streets Soldier
1974 Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore Joe & Jim's Bartender
1976 Taxi Driver Doughboy
1977 New York, New York Alabama

During the quiz, I immediately went for "Harry Dean Stanton" on account of the above.
Once I was done actually reading the question, time was up.
i.e. had I chosen to read the question before selecting my answer, I would NOT have had time to actually select an answer.

This hint was a butt.
Sure, I had the correct answer in my notes, but still; The hint says "Son of {movie-quote}", indicating Harry (Son of Norman).
Not only that, but the movie hinted to in the hint has (as far as I could find) NOTHING AT ALL to do with Martin Scorsese.

a salty 9/10

Technical report: Significant delay on Q1, minor delay on Q2. Otherwise, no issues detected.

pre-post edit: Yes, I know the question is about a movie directed by Scorsese, but the hint was still misleading as F.

I thought it might have been James Franco (Willem Dafoe's Spider-Man character's son), but splitting into "Son of God" makes sense.
Makes sense in hindsight, but I'd still say the hint was a poor choice.
There's always that one hint for every quiz that sticks out like a sore thumb.....

Hint for #9 also can be deconstructed as Son of [Godspeed Spider] Man.
Jesus not just a son of God - he is also a son of man.
Granted - I formulated it only after the quiz, but I guess something was brewing in the subconscious, and when question was up answer was easy.

Dafoe was in Speed 2 and in Spiderman 1 as main villain , God is self explained, the only misleading part that there wasn't any space between God and speed, anyway that was my take on that hint .

it seems less research was actually beneficial to me. I just looked at the list of all films by Scorsese, clicked on the one that mentioned God (well, Last temptation of Jesus, so I thought that must be it - because Jesus is Son of God) and looked at list of actors and cross-checked with list of actors for Spider-man. and was done with it, did not research anything further and it did me good (still got a bug on Q3 tho)

I've answered questions wrong due to cryptic hints in the past, but there has often been a sense of logic and reasoning to the hints in the aftermath.
This one just felt different for some reason...
Sure, it does make sense in the aftermath, but still...... There's just something that doesn't feel right.
Might be that of it being tangential and somewhat misleading at the same time.

It was probably intended to be like that. As I said, combined 2 hints together. It's kind of elegant, but you have to get there. I also researched Harry Osborn and James Franco first. Even looked up the son of Dafoe. In the end I looked up Dafoe himself, but honestlly even after seeing the Jesus role it took me a while before it clicked.

I also had Tobey Maguire in my notes, since in the scene where Green Goblin says "Godspeed Spider-Man" he offers him to join him and be his son immediately before that quote.
So after drawing blanks on any connections between Martin Scorsese and Maguire or Franco or even Willem Dafoe's son Jack, I tried Willem Dafoe himself and immediately felt a bit silly for overthinking the hint :ROFLMAO:
Even then, I didn't realise the hint was a pun until after the quiz since "Oh he's Jesus so he's kinda his own son in that movie" came into my head.
Best part in today's research was when google referenced me to this page for hint #5...
I seriously considered researching parallels with Scorsese's movies before coming to my senses.
(y)Same here, had a brief moment wondering why would an athlete be relevant.

pre-quiz notes on H9
Whoa, that's some good ones. Will I twist the knife in the wound by saying that, as a person who doesn't watch movies in general and learned about the existence of this Martin Scorsese guy a few hours ago, my thought process only involved giving each of the hints a minute-long google, and in the case of H9, finished at Harry Osborn?

Specifically, my whole notes were:
Hint 1: Martin Scorsese Debut (1967, I Call First, later retitled Who's That Knocking at My Door)
Hint 2: Johnny De Niro (Robert De Niro as Johnny Boy in Mean Streets)
Hint 3: Martin Scorsese Oscar (2007, for the film The Departed)
Hint 4: Martin Scorsese Oscar (nominated 14 times, won once)
Hint 5: Frank Pierce (protagonist in Bringing Out the Dead by Martin Scorsese, played by Nicolas Cage, 1999)
Hint 6: Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, a 2013 biographical crime black comedy film by Martin Scorsese)
Hint 7: Max Cady (played by Robert De Niro in Cape Fear by Martin Scorsese, 1991)
Hint 8: Gangs of New York (2002 epic period crime drama film by Martin Scorsese, delayed by September 11 attacks)
Hint 9: Son of Godspeed Spider-Man (Son of the Goblin - Harry Osborn, son of Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin)
Hint 10: After Hours (1985 black comedy film by Martin Scorsese)

Salty, if lucky, 9/10 too... 🙃

I misunderstood the Q9 hint, but when I saw Dafoe's face in Spider-Man playing as the Green Goblin, then I remembered he played God in one of Scorsese's movies => only The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) was the most decent choice ;)

Hmmm so in today's quiz - answer to the last question will be correctly entered? I remember that LAST TIME this was wrongly entered...
Oh...I did not forget about that slip...that question is updated. Small 15-20 min delay, having some technical problems it would seem.

EDIT: Ok...I might cancel it for today unfortunately. It just doesn't seem to want to properly start and I don't think I can't fix it on my own. You are free to hang around in the hopes that the quiz will break in your advantage for some easy GalaCredit, but I don't know if it will run properly or not today. Sorry about the inconvenience. Not sure what to do, will probably have to wait for Monday to have someone from tech look into it.
